Rob Wells, the award-winning songwriter and producer, who has worked with Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and many other multi-platinum recording artists, spent two days at The Grove working with our students to write and record original songs. The creative energy during the session was incredible!
On the first day, our students wrote and rehearsed their songs. Rob taught them to start with the chorus and the verses would follow. The students drew upon their personal experiences and writing skills to pen amazing lyrics. Once completed, they focused on refining their chord progressions, melodies and harmonies.
The second day was filled with recording sessions in the Chapel. By the end of the day, three fantastic songs had taken shape and were shared with the whole group. Rob is currently in the post-production phase and soon the students will have a professionally mixed recording of their song. He also gave an inspiring talk to a larger group of music students about life in the music business. The students benefited immensely from this workshop and they are all inspired to continue to create music. Thanks, Rob!
