Dignity For All Student Group Welcomes Syrian Refugees to Havergal

This year, the conflict and resulting refugee crisis across Syria and neighbouring countries struck a chord with our students. As a result, a group of Upper School students at Havergal teamed up with their peers at Crescent School and created the Dignity For All initiative. The goal of the program was to offer a safe and inclusive community space for refugee families in Toronto.

On Saturday, February 27, the Dignity For All group hosted a group of refugee families at Havergal’s Junior School. At this event, guests, students and volunteers participated in bench ball and basketball in the gym, made various arts and crafts projects in the lunchroom and played computer games in the Learning Hub. They also enjoyed a pizza lunch.

It was a great way to welcome these newest members of the Toronto community. The Dignity For All group would like to thank their guests for coming to Havergal to meet them.
