Jonathan Estabrooks, an OMS Montessori Alumni, always remembers music as an important part of his upbringing. Now, with two music degrees, one from the University of Toronto (2002-2006) and the other from The Juilliard School in New York City (2006-2009), he is enjoying a life of music.
Jonathan is currently involved in a number of projects. In addition to the release of his new album "These Miles" on iTunes, he will be performing at the National Art Centre on April 10 (for tickets, visit: http://nac-cna.ca/en/community/event/8730).
This year he made both his Carnegie Hall and Toronto Symphony Orchestra debuts and he entered the studio to begin recording his debut classical crossover album, which is available on iTunes as of March 11, 2014. He ran a successful online fundraiser campaign to fund the project, which includes a 40-piece orchestra. The album includes some incredibleÂÂÂ collaborations including runner up of Britain's Got Talent Jonathan Antoine and Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah Slean, along with a whole host of fabulous artists. Jonathan says he recorded classic tunes from Neil Diamond, Garfunkel and Lauper to Italian Neapolitan songs and classic Broadway tunes, all wrapped in a lush orchestration.
Jonathan's attitude and approach to life has resulted in some incredible opportunities. He has had the great honourÂÂÂ of singing for Presidents and Prime Ministers, he's had lunch with Martha Stewart, he's met Robin Williams and Itzhak Perlman and he has performed with great conductors such as Steven Reineke and Pinchas Zuckerman.
