The Senior Band Cuba trip was an incredible one! After a 3-hour flight to Varadero, we quickly boarded busses for our journey to Havana and our adventure began.
We had the opportunity to perform at our hotel, as well as several Music Arts schools, community centres, and the famous ” Jazz Cafe”. Our kids did instrumental workshops, took dance lessons which included AfroCuban dance, as well as Salsa and Mambo. The tours of Havanna were stunning, and our trip to the rainforest allowed us to see the breathtaking beauty of Cuba.
One of the highlights came as a compliment. Our band performed at the most prestigious Music Arts school in Cuba. After the concert, the Director of the school let us know that our Senior Band was the best Canadian band that had performed at their school to date!
A big thank you to all our kids for giving exceptional performances and being incredible representatives of Newton’s Grove School. You made us so proud. A big thank you as well, to our incredibly supportive families.
