I had an amazing experience with OES. I genuinely loved it. The school offers a learning environment that is both independent and supportive, which was exactly what I was looking for. I honestly cannot think of anything I would change. The flexibility was a huge highlight. I was even able to complete a course with ease during the summer while on vacation. I wish I had known just how responsive and helpful the staff would be. My teachers were Mr. Lee for grade 11 and Ms. Deloyer for grade 12, and they were both absolute angels. They always replied to my emails within 48 hours and provided clear solutions with in-depth feedback, which was incredibly beneficial come exam time. They were always available whenever I needed help and made sure I was fully prepared. The structure worked perfectly for me. It gave me the freedom to learn at my own pace while still having strong support when I needed it. That balance between independence and guidance is what made the experience so positive. A big thank you to Mara, Mr. Lee, Ms. Deloyer, and the entire OES team. I would definitely recommend OES to other students who enjoy an independent yet supportive learning environment.

The Best Part

I think the best part about being a student at this school is the flexibility, the accommodations, and the interesting activities that actually make learning fun. You get to learn at your own pace without feeling rushed. I especially loved the Gizmos and the simulations. As someone who enjoys visual learning, those really helped concepts actually stick. The way everything is broken down makes things so much easier to understand. It is the kind of setup where you feel supported but also free to figure things out in a way that works best for you.

Suggested Improvements

I honestly cannot think of anything I would change. This school does a fantastic job of giving students flexibility and support, which makes a big difference. For someone like me who chose the online learning pathway, everything is designed to help you learn at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed. The activities are engaging and help you understand difficult concepts in a simple way. The school also makes sure to accommodate different needs, so you never feel left behind. I would highly recommend this school to any student. If you are hesitating about choosing Ontario eSecondary School, you should not. It is a great place to learn, and the experience is truly worth it.

Hidden Details

A new student might be surprised to learn that this school is not like a Zoom platform where a teacher is on camera teaching a live lesson. Many people assume online school works the same way as in-person school, just through a screen. But that is not the case here. Instead of live video lessons, the class material is designed for you to work through on your own. Teachers are definitely there to help, clarify concepts, and answer any questions you have, but they are not digitally talking to you during each lesson. You are not sitting in front of a webcam for hours like a traditional online class. This makes the school a great fit for students who are more individualistic or who are good at working independently. If you are someone who likes to learn at your own pace and take charge of your own learning, you will likely do very well here. I strongly recommend Ontario eSecondary School to anyone who is considering it. If you are hesitating, you should not. It is a great place to learn, especially for students who value independence and flexibility.

I have a lot of respect for the school leaders, especially my teachers and the guidance team. They genuinely care about student success and are always responsive whenever questions come up. My teachers, Mr. Lee and Ms. Deloyer, went above and beyond. They replied to emails quickly, provided thoughtful feedback, and made sure I was fully prepared for exams. What stood out to me most was how available they were without ever making me feel like I was being a bother. Even when I needed clarification, they never made me feel like I was asking too much. They trusted me to work independently but were always there when I needed support. If anything, I wish more people knew how approachable and dedicated the staff truly are. They make a big difference in the student experience.

I never felt like my teachers asked too much of me. If anything, the workload felt just right. Everything was laid out clearly from the start, so I always knew what was expected of me. There were no surprises. When my teachers talked about success, I think they imagined it as me truly understanding the material, not just rushing through assignments. They cared about quality over speed. They wanted me to feel confident and prepared, especially when exam time came. It was never about just getting things done. It was about making sure I actually learned and could apply what I studied. That approach made all the difference.
