Our Take: West Point Grey Academy
West Point Grey is an example of a lot of things done well. It was founded by families looking for the right academic offering for them: they considered what would be the best case, and then they created it. Since then, the school has had top-flight leadership, including Tam Matthews, who continued and grew the spirit, verve, and commitment to community. He brought a wealth of experience, including that from positions at Lakefield College and Ashbury College. The current head, Stephen Anthony, continues the theme, with close connections to the past heads, adding a nice continuity to the leadership. The facilities predate the school, though nevertheless are well appointed and sitting a nice remove from the bustle of the city proper, yet close enough to be readily accessible. The property includes a wealth of play space, and is situated to make the most of a stellar view. The quality and delivery of the academic program is a draw, as is a dedication to global learning, outdoor education, and community service.
