Ashwood Glen is a recent and welcome addition to the private school market. It’s in the process of reaching IB accreditation, a process that takes two years, though is already teaching to that curriculum. The benefits of the IB include integration within a global community of learners, as well as as internationally recognized and admired approach to learning. The instructional spaces were purpose built with the Ashwood program in mind, allowing for movement and a high integration between learners around shared learning tasks. The incorporation of a Maker Space signals an intention to help children develop the 21st century skills they’ll need when they advance to the secondary grades and beyond.

Whole-class lectures should never be given. Students learn best through small group lessons, interaction, and independent work.
External special education support is only rarely necessary. For instance, a psychologist might be brought in to help out a student with a severe developmental disorder.
We only use specialist teachers and classes in rare cases (for instance, to teach a second language). Core teachers are well-equipped to teach almost all subjects.
Modern-day technology is never used in the classroom. This can interfere with students' social and emotional development and can be a distraction.

Thank you for your interest in our school.
It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the Head of School at Ashwood Glen.
I am in my 22nd year of education, I have worked as a classroom teacher, from grades 4-8 and have been in administration for many years. I have worked in 4 different countries and quite a few schools. My diverse experience has taught me that children are pretty much the same wherever you are in the world. They have a zest for learning and bring joy to all around them.
The school’s mission statement of striving for excellence, learning from each other, and trying to make a difference both locally and globally is what we enforce. We work towards academic success for each and every student. We work together with both the parents and students to ensure that everyone’s needs are met. Students produce ideas that can be incorporated either in the school, or with a local/national charity.
I have an open door policy and I encourage students to advocate for themselves. They are more than welcome to come and discuss any concerns and issues that they may have. I am always happy to listen to feedback, and will act on much of the information provided.
It is important that everyone in the building; parents, students, teachers, and administrators, feel that they are in a safe environment and belong here. I am proud to be a part of the Ashwood Glen family.
