MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP
We invited Tim Carlson, Principal at Calgary Academy & Calgary Collegiate, to share a message.
The overview highlights the vision, values, and guiding principles that shape leadership and the student experience at Calgary Academy & Calgary Collegiate.
Tim Carlson, Principal
Doctor of Education
For more than two decades, Calgary Academy has been my professional home and my community. Since joining the school in 2002, I have had the privilege of watching our students, staff, and programs grow in remarkable ways. While CA has expanded in size and evolved with new approaches and technologies, one thing has never changed: our unwavering commitment to putting the individual needs of each learner first.
From my earliest days teaching Grade 12 students to my role now as principal, I have always been inspired by the strength of our community. CA is a place where students are understood, supported, and encouraged to discover what they are capable of. It is also a place where educators continually learn from one another, adapt, and bring heart to everything they do.
Recently completing my doctorate allowed me to deepen my understanding of leadership and the future of education, and it reinforced something I see every day: when we stay curious, embrace innovation, and keep students at the centre of our work, incredible things happen.
As we look ahead, I am excited for what is possible. Personalized learning, flexible pathways, and a genuine understanding of how learners learn will continue to shape our school’s future.
