(4.5) Student Experience
As parents, we were very pleased with our son's experience at Canada Nord Academy. Haoxuan completed his studies through the eSchool learning format, so one of our initial concerns was whether he would receive enough academic guidance and support while studying remotely. In practice, we found the school to be well organized and responsive. What impressed us most was the way the school approached his academic planning. His previous studies and credits were carefully assessed, and the course recommendations took into consideration not only the credits he needed, but also his academic strengths, areas for improvement and future study plans. This gave us confidence that his academic pathway was being planned around his individual needs rather than following a standard approach. We also appreciated the regular communication with the academic and administrative teams. Whenever there was a question or issue, we were able to receive clarification in a timely manner. His teachers also provided detailed feedback on his assignments and assessments, which gave us confidence that his academic progress was being properly monitored. Haoxuan graduated in 2026 and will be continuing his studies at King's College London. Looking back, we feel that Canada Nord Academy provided a good balance of flexibility, academic structure and individualized support.
Why Canada Nord Academy?
We ultimately chose Canada Nord Academy because the eSchool format offered the flexibility that suited our son's learning needs, while still providing the academic structure and support we were looking for. As parents, we were particularly interested in how the school would assess his previous studies and plan the remaining credits. During the process, we felt that the school took the time to understand his individual academic background rather than simply offering a standard course package. The fact that the course recommendations could take into account his academic strengths, areas for improvement and future university plans was an important factor in our decision. We also felt comfortable with the level of communication and support available to students studying remotely. For us, the combination of flexibility, individualized academic planning and ongoing support ultimately made Canada Nord Academy the right choice.
Expectations vs. Reality
Our expectations were mainly focused on finding a flexible online learning option that would allow our son to complete his high school studies while staying on track academically. Canada Nord Academy met those expectations, but our experience was actually more supportive than we initially anticipated. What pleasantly surprised us was the level of individual attention given to his academic planning. The credit assessment was clear and systematic, and the course recommendations considered his academic background, strengths and areas for improvement, as well as his future study plans. We also expected that studying online would mean that we would need to be more involved in monitoring his progress. In reality, the regular communication with the school and the detailed feedback from teachers gave us reassurance that he was receiving appropriate academic support. The eSchool format provided flexibility without sacrificing the structure and guidance we wanted for him.
Your Advice
Our main advice to parents is to discuss your child's longer-term academic and university plans with the school as early as possible. This makes it easier for the academic team to assess previous credits and recommend courses that are appropriate not only for graduation, but also for the student's future direction. For eSchool students, parents should also understand that flexibility comes with a greater need for independence and time management. However, based on our experience, students do not have to navigate the process entirely on their own. The teachers and academic team were available when support was needed, and regular communication helped us feel confident about our son's progress. For us, the key was finding the right balance between giving our son independence and knowing that professional academic support was available when he needed it.
(4.5) School Leadership
From a parent's perspective, we found the administration at Canada Nord Academy professional, organized and responsive. Communication was particularly important to us because our son was completing his studies through eSchool, and we appreciated being able to contact the school when we had questions or needed clarification. The academic and administrative teams communicated clearly about his study progress, course requirements and next steps. When an issue arose, we felt that it was addressed appropriately and in a timely manner. We also appreciated the school's willingness to understand our son's individual academic situation rather than applying a standard approach. The assessment of his previous studies and credits, together with the advice on his course planning, gave us confidence that his academic pathway was being managed carefully. Overall, the communication and organization of the school gave us peace of mind as parents, particularly because our son was studying remotely.
(4.5) Teaching
We were very satisfied with the quality of teaching and academic support our son received at Canada Nord Academy. Although Haoxuan studied through eSchool, we did not feel that the online format meant he was left to manage his studies without appropriate teacher support. What impressed us most was the quality of the feedback on his assignments and assessments. The teachers provided detailed comments that helped him understand both what he had done well and where he needed to improve. When he had questions about course content or assignments, he was also able to communicate with his teachers and receive clarification. We also felt that the teachers encouraged him to take responsibility for his own learning while still providing support when needed. As parents, we valued this balance between independence and guidance, particularly as he was preparing for university. The regular academic feedback gave us confidence that his progress was being properly monitored throughout his studies.
(4.5) Academics
We consider the academic planning at Canada Nord Academy to be one of its strongest areas. From our perspective as parents, the credit assessment process was systematic and gave us a clear understanding of our son's academic pathway. What we particularly appreciated was that the school did not focus only on the number of credits Haoxuan needed to graduate. His previous academic background was reviewed carefully, and the course recommendations took into consideration his academic strengths, areas for improvement and future study plans. This individualized approach was important to us because we wanted his high school studies to provide an appropriate foundation for university, rather than simply meeting graduation requirements. The eSchool format also encouraged him to become more independent in managing his time and studies. Now that Haoxuan has graduated in 2026 and is preparing to continue his education at King's College London, we feel that the academic structure, course planning and teacher feedback he received have prepared him well for his next stage.
(4) School Life
Haoxuan's experience of school life was naturally different from that of a traditional on-campus student because he completed his studies through eSchool. For our family, the main advantage was the flexibility this provided and the opportunity for him to develop greater independence in managing his own learning. Although we cannot comment extensively on the day-to-day campus environment, student activities or social life, we were satisfied with the connection he maintained with the school. Regular communication with the academic and administrative teams helped make the online learning experience feel structured rather than isolated. We believe eSchool is particularly suitable for students who are comfortable working independently and value flexibility. At the same time, parents should understand that it provides a different experience from a traditional school campus. More opportunities for online student interaction or community activities could potentially make the experience even more engaging for students studying remotely.
(4.5) Admissions
Our experience with the admissions and initial academic planning process was straightforward and well supported. We appreciated that the school took the time to understand Haoxuan's previous academic background and review his credits before determining an appropriate study pathway. The communication was clear, and we felt comfortable asking questions when we needed clarification about academic requirements or course planning. We also appreciated that the process considered his individual circumstances and future study direction rather than treating the admission process as simply completing paperwork. For parents considering Canada Nord Academy, we would recommend providing complete academic records and discussing your child's longer-term study plans with the school as early as possible. This allows the academic team to make more informed recommendations about credit recognition and course selection. Overall, we found the process organized and reassuring, particularly because we knew there was a clear academic plan in place for our son.
(4.5) University placement and counselling
We were pleased with the academic guidance our son received in preparing for his university pathway. What we valued most was that the school considered his longer-term academic direction when advising him on course selection, rather than focusing only on the credits required for graduation. The academic team considered his previous academic performance, strengths and areas for improvement when discussing his courses. As parents, this gave us confidence that his high school studies were being planned with his future goals in mind. We also appreciated that the guidance encouraged Haoxuan to take greater responsibility for his own academic decisions. This was particularly valuable as he was completing his studies through eSchool and would eventually need to become much more independent at university. Haoxuan graduated in 2026 and will be continuing his studies at King's College London. Looking back, we feel that having his academic pathway planned with his future university direction in mind was an important part of his preparation. For parents, our advice would be to communicate your child's university goals early so that course selection and academic planning can be aligned with those goals from the beginning.
