(5) Student Experience

Our granddaughter attends Great Beginnings Montessori. The staff are always friendly and approachable. Each day we are given a daily journal entry of how the day went. The classroom is very welcoming, and our granddaughter absolutely loves being dropped off every morning. She is learning important social skills, playing with others, sharing, sitting at a table to eat, and so much more. The staff communicate with families on the class app, letting us know how the day is going, including sending photos. The Montessori curriculum has been introduced, which is building the educational foundation. Our granddaughter is thriving in this environment. The students are introduced to French and music by qualified teachers. We even get report cards three times a year, letting us know how things are going in all areas.

Why Durham Elementary, Durham Academy and G.B.M.S.?

We chose Great Beginnings Montessori because the class sizes are smaller. The Toddler class has 13 students with three teachers, and the Casa 1 class has 16 students with two teachers. The students, at age three, have music three times a week and French every day. They also participate in events throughout the year, such as concerts.

Expectations vs. Reality

We wanted our little one to have a Montessori foundation in a smaller environment. The communication with the school has exceeded our expectations. The students thrive on the structure. Parents are welcome to visit and come to the class at any time. The concerts are amazing!

Your Advice

Always take a tour of the school. Find out if you are allowed to visit a few times before making a decision. Find out the health policies and school policies. Once your child is registered, ensure that you are allowed to see inside the class at any time you wish.
