My child's experience at DEPS has been positive, fulfilling, and memorable. DEPS is such a close-knit community, making my child feel safe and welcomed. As a parent, I appreciate the open communication from staff and the dedication they show each day to educate and care for my child. The enriched Ontario curricular program that is taught at DEPS has allowed my child to grow at a comfortable pace for them. DEPS also offers a fantastic French program and even has a French concert each year to showcase what students have learned. There have been so many wonderful program enhancements, workshops, and presentations offered to students, which are not only educational experiences but times when fond memories are formed and values instilled. The level of professionalism, care, and attention to detail from the staff is very much appreciated!
Why Durham Elementary, Durham Academy and G.B.M.S.?
DEPS was chosen as the right fit for our family because it is small but mighty. My child benefits greatly from the smaller class sizes and the attention to detail this allows the staff to provide. DEPS fosters an all‑inclusive and welcoming environment, where everyone is accepted for who they are. The school is involved within its community, a value which aligns with our family. Giving back and supporting the community helps foster the same care in the school itself.
Expectations vs. Reality
Our expectations of DEPS have been met and surpassed. The school aligns greatly with many of the values my family has, and the dedication the staff have to sharing and supporting these values means a great deal.
Your Advice
I would highly recommend DEPS to a parent considering the school. They should know that the staff are extremely professional and go above and beyond to ensure the students are cared for both socially and academically. DEPS provides its students with not only the Ontario curriculum, but with lessons that surpass the curriculum. With many opportunities for students to grow academically through the numerous activities, events and field trips, as students are proud to represent DEPS in a kind, courteous and compassionate manner. These are skills and lessons that can only be taught by experience and DEPS provides students with these experiences frequently throughout the school year.
