(5) Student Experience

My children’s experience at Flexi Academy has been very positive. Both of my kids genuinely love the school. One of the things we appreciate most is that the school day is short, focused, and productive—usually about two to three concentrated hours rather than spending seven or eight hours at school, in addition to commuting. The academic time is focused on what the students actually need to learn, which leaves my children with plenty of time for other important parts of their lives. One of my daughters loves crochet; they take swimming lessons, and they still have enough time to meet their friends, enjoy hobbies, and participate in other activities. I also really appreciate the academic follow-up. If a quiz shows that one of my children has not fully understood something, a one-to-one session with the teacher can be arranged to review the areas where they need additional help. I also receive regular performance reports, which allow me to follow their progress. Most importantly, I have noticed that my children have become more independent and responsible for attending their classes, completing their work, and managing their own studies.

Why Flexi Academy?

We chose Flexi Academy because it gives our family flexibility without sacrificing academic structure. My work in news and media often involves long and unpredictable hours, so commuting back and forth to school every day can be difficult for me. Having the children receive a structured education from home removes that daily pressure while still giving them scheduled classes, assessments, academic follow-up, and access to teacher support when needed. Another important benefit is the flexibility it gives our family. For example, we once went camping during the school term. My children simply took their laptops and had an internet connection. They were able to spend a couple of focused hours keeping up with their studies and then enjoy the rest of the day with us. They did not have to choose between keeping up with school and enjoying a family trip. I also appreciate having an account manager we can communicate with when we need assistance or have questions. Having that point of contact makes the online-school experience feel much more organized and personal. For us, the combination of focused education, flexibility, support, and the amount of time the children have for life outside school is what made Flexi Academy the right choice.

Expectations vs. Reality

I expected Flexi Academy to provide flexibility, but what surprised me was the level of structure, accountability, support, and personal follow-up. I did not expect that when a quiz showed that one of my children needed additional help, a one-to-one session could be arranged with the teacher to go over the material again. I was also pleasantly surprised by the regular performance reports that allow me to follow their progress. Another area where the reality exceeded my expectations was the school management. Before joining, I expected the managers to be professional and respectful, but I thought that might simply mean good communication and polite words. In reality, I found them to be much more involved than that. They genuinely listen to parents, make themselves available when there is a concern, and step in when an issue cannot be resolved through the usual departments. From my experience, they do not just acknowledge a problem—they make an effort to help solve it. I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the management team because of the way they deal with families. I have also been pleasantly surprised by how much more independent and responsible my children have become. They attend their classes, keep track of their work, complete their quizzes and assignments, and take more responsibility for their own education. The flexibility was what we initially expected, but the level of academic support, management involvement, communication, and accountability has exceeded my expectations.

Your Advice

I would tell parents considering Flexi Academy not to assume that online schooling means children are simply left alone in front of a computer. In our experience, there is structure, academic follow-up, regular assessments, communication with the school, and direct teacher support when additional help is needed. At the same time, I think one of the biggest advantages is the time it gives children back. They can receive a focused education without spending most of their day at school and commuting. That leaves them enough time for hobbies, sports, friends, family activities, and other interests. For our family, finding that balance between education and having a life outside school has been one of the most valuable parts of the experience.

What stands out most to me is that the management does more than communicate politely with parents. They actually listen. If we have a concern, they are willing to speak with us, understand the situation, and become involved when something has not been resolved through the normal departments. Before joining, I expected professional and respectful communication, but I did not expect this level of personal involvement. From my experience, the managers genuinely care about solving problems rather than simply acknowledging them. I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the way the leadership deals with students and families.

I am very happy with the quality of teaching at Flexi Academy, particularly the individual attention students can receive when they need additional support. One thing that impressed me is what happens when a quiz or assessment shows that one of my children has not fully understood part of the material. The school does not simply record the result and continue to the next lesson. A one-to-one session with the teacher can be arranged so that the student can go over the weak areas, ask questions, and understand the subject better before moving forward. I think this approach is very important because education should be about understanding, not simply completing lessons and passing exams. I have also noticed that the teachers encourage my children to take more responsibility for their own learning. They receive support when they need it, but they are also expected to attend their classes, complete their work, and manage their responsibilities independently. Overall, I am very satisfied with the balance between teaching, support, and student responsibility.

One of the biggest academic strengths of Flexi Academy, in my opinion, is how focused the program is. The children do not need to spend seven or eight hours in a school building simply because that is the traditional length of a school day. Instead, their academic time is concentrated on the subjects and learning they actually need. They attend their classes, complete quizzes and assessments, and receive additional support when the results show that something needs more attention. As a parent, I also appreciate receiving regular performance reports because they allow me to follow my children’s progress without having to constantly ask them what they are doing. Another positive change I have noticed is their independence. They have become more responsible for attending classes, completing assignments and quizzes, and keeping track of their own work. For our family, this combination of focused academic time, regular assessment, follow-up, and increased student responsibility has worked very well. I feel the program is helping them build both academic knowledge and useful learning habits for the future.

Children need education, but they also need time to develop hobbies, exercise, socialize, and simply enjoy being children. The shorter schedule does not mean that school is unstructured; they still have classes, assessments, and academic responsibilities. For our family, the ability to receive a structured education without allowing school to consume almost the entire day has been one of the strongest parts of the experience.

(5) Admissions

Our experience with the admissions process at Flexi Academy was extremely easy and straightforward. My children were previously attending a public school, so most of the transfer process was handled directly between the schools. I simply asked their previous school to send the required student records and documents to Flexi Academy, and on my side there was very little that I needed to do. I did not have to go back and forth between different offices, make repeated visits, or deal with a complicated amount of paperwork. Everything felt organized and stress-free, which I really appreciated as a parent. My advice to families considering Flexi Academy would be to speak with the admissions team, understand how the online program works, and then ask the child’s current school what records need to be transferred. In our case, once the documents were sent, the process was very smooth.
