How we see London Christian High
Rigorous academics taught through a Christian lens, LCH has been operating for more than a half century, servicing a local community as well, more recently, an international one. The school has grown over the years—it started with just 27 students—though the intention was to remain on the smaller side, ensuring a high level of student engagement across the curriculum. An active and involved parent community is one of the draws, as is the agility of administration to build new programs, including those based in new technologies. Spaces are clear, crisp, and the faculty highly engaged both in and out of the classroom.

At London Christian High, we believe each student has been created on purpose and for a purpose. Our learning program is designed with two key thoughts in mind:
People - We believe that each person has been created uniquely and should be celebrated and developed starting with their God-given interests, talents, and natural gifting.
Purpose - We also believe that our God-given gifts are to be used for a purpose, namely, to serve Christ and others as we seek to make our world a better place.
With these two thoughts in mind, our staff takes a vested interest in the lives of each of our students on an entirely different level. Our school is known to be a safe, caring environment and our school community is founded on solid Christian values. Within this school environment, our students learn and develop in the light of God’s Word and begin to see themselves more deeply as people, equipped to make a difference in the world.
Through this Christian commitment to the world, as we and our students identify needs and injustices in our local and global neighbourhoods, we recognize that there are many ways that we can be of service to others through our learning. Our academic program is both highly challenging and highly supportive. We want our students to wrestle with current issues, which naturally leads towards deeper learning, better understanding and ultimately the development of Godly wisdom for a lifetime of character formation. At the fusion of relevant issues and academic rigour is a curriculum that leads our students outside of the four walls of the classroom and into a world full of God’s grace and opportunity for a life lived to the fullest.
London Christian High offers the Ontario Secondary School Diploma to our graduates. Our school passes an accreditation process every two years to ensure that our graduates are meeting and exceeding the requirements for the Ministry of Education in Ontario. This accreditation allows our students to apply to any post-secondary option that they choose. Our graduates receive annual acceptances in their chosen program to post-secondary institutions across Canada and around the world. Our vision is to help our students begin to recognize and develop their skills, gifts, and abilities to flourish in God’s purpose.

Most big schools provide your extroverted child with plenty of social opportunities and the ability to interact with different peer groups with a wide range of personalities, interests, values, etc. A larger student population and more extracurriculars—including activities like team sports, arts programs, and debate—will give them a broader scope of opportunities to participate in events that scratch their interpersonal itch. “This may also give them the opportunity to hone certain skills,” say Ann and Karen Wolff of Wolff Educational Services. “For instance, they might run for student council to develop leadership and public speaking skills and learn to be a voice for other students.”
Make sure any prospective school, no matter what size, provides the right social environment to help your child feel at home, make friends, and develop confidence. This is especially important at big schools, which are sometimes more socially overwhelming and challenging for an introvert to find their bearings in. Of course, “Because larger schools usually have a more diverse student population, introverted kids are more likely to find a small group of people like them, a peer group they can relate to and find acceptance from,” says Dona Matthews, Toronto-based education consultant and co-author (with Joanne Foster) of Beyond Intelligence.
Bigger schools often have a broader scope of extracurricular activities, which is another way to help your child meet the right group of friends. “This may also give them the opportunity to develop certain skills,” say Ann and Karen Wolff of Wolff Educational Services. “For instance, they might run for student council to develop leadership and public speaking skills and learn to be a voice for other students.
