(5) Student Experience

Our child is very energetic and has focus issues. Enrolling him in Manor Montessori was the best decision we could have ever made. The Montessori curriculum really brought out the best in our child, and the hands-on attention his teachers gave him did wonders for his behaviour. Our son has become a natural leader, and I attribute that to Manor Montessori’s encouragement of their older students to mentor the younger ones. Our son graduated from Manor after Grade Three. The experience has given him a solid foundation in all core subjects and instilled a strong learning ethic. It has prepared him well for his new school. (I’d say he was ahead in subjects such as Math and French). The teachers and support staff were communicative and compassionate. I would recommend Manor Montessori to any parents with young children. It is a worthy and reassuring investment in your child’s growth and education.

Why Manor Montessori School?

Manor Montessori was recommended to us by our son's daycare facility (Sunnybrook Crèche). We did not consider another school after our meetings with the staff/owners of Manor.

Expectations vs. Reality

Our son has some behavioural challenges, and we knew the small class size and close attention and support would help him. His Grades One and Two were disrupted by the Covid epidemic. I thought - compared to what I hear students experienced in the public system - his teachers transitioned well to the virtual format, and our son did not suffer educationally.

Your Advice

The Montessori format is a great way for kids to find their strengths, and I found the children very supportive of each other. It is worth the tuition! Every penny.

(5) School Leadership

Staff and administration were very approachable. Teachers were in regular communication about our son's performance, where he needed extra help, and where he was excelling. They found ways to help our son focus and regulate his behaviour.

(4.5) Teaching

The hands-on style of Montessori teaching allows the kids to pursue what interests them. They provided constructive feedback regularly. We always felt our son was in a safe and secure environment.

(5) Academics

As I said, Manor Montessori prepared our son for the next step (Grade 4 and beyond). Unfortunately, I would say his French suffered more than other subjects when he went to a large school, and we attribute that to the wonderful French instruction of "Madame".

(3.5) Extracurriculars

The skating and skiing trips were great extras. A few more trips to other cultural and educational sites in the city could have been offered. The Christmas concerts were a treat.

(4.5) Students

We don't recall our son having any issues with other students, and from what I could observe, the students tended to support and play well together. Again, I think the teachers coached the students on how to resolve their conflicts.
