Yes, chess-club, to cross-country, basket-ball, school play, volley-ball etc. are all offered. The students are definitely well rounded! Although academics are the main focus, the sports offered like Cross-country, computer lab time, field trips and things like skating and swimming lessons as gym alternatives are a great mix for the students to try something new. My child is proud of her school and her peers. I've never heard them disappointed about something at this school (she previously attended Montessori). She will attend another 4 years here and then head to highschool.
I think there are enough activities for the kids to participate competitively. The downside to this, as a small school population, you find that the same students are going for all the activities. I do not feel they have or get enough preparation time before all the different activities. For example, if they are playing basketball, they may have 2-4 weeks of practice which may equal 4-8 sessions.
