Alumna Morgana McKenzie and her filmmaking work are featured on a five-page spread in the current issue of Ottawa Family Living magazine. The editor of the magazine, Pam Dillion, volunteered (via Twitter) to help carry equipment on a shoot day and then asked to write a story on Morgana a few weeks later.
You can read the story here: Morgana’s Story. With the exception of the actress playing “The Fairy”, all of the girls pictured are graduates of OMS Montessori – an extension of The Element. Morgana graduated from Grade 8 at The Element in June 2012.
She is now a Filmmaker & Visual Artist. Here latest film, GIFTS, has won 8 awards and screened at 21 festivals. She recently travelled to Seattle for the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) where her film GIFTS was an Official Selection. She is currently working on Kurayami no Wa, a short thriller set in winter.
Morgana also created a video for The Element, showcasing a day in the life of a Junior High student. You can watch that here: http://player.vimeo.com/video/53817268
