On Wednesday, October 15, the HNMCS Parent Association hosted Dr. JoAnn Deak, an expert in child development, learning and identity formation. She spent the day presenting to students, teachers and parents.
All agreed it was a very valuable and enlightening experience. On the Parent Feedback Survey, 100% of respondents indicated their overall impression of presentation was EXCELLENT and they planned to use some of the information learned at home. They also rated the relevance of Dr. Deak's presentation as EXCELLENT.
In fact, there were many requests to have Dr. Deak come back for a second presentation to continue helping us with our journey as students, teachers and parents. Our Parent Association will be considering this request. If you wish to provide further comments about this or any other topic, remember to use the Feedback Button on the HNMCS Parent Portal.
We learned from Dr. JoAnn Deak that the female brain leads us to be more fearful, anxious, and emotional; however we also learned how to cope with these difficulties, learn from them, and develop into aspiring athletes, mathematicians, artists, or lawyers. From here on out, I am sure that the girls of our HNMCS community will strive to 'stretch the elastics' in their brains and make the most of this decade of their lives. - Jennifer Sousa '17
