The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC), founded in 2006, is a very prestigious international team competition with students participating from 82 countries. The aim is to bring together students from different countries and cultures – those who are interested in learning beyond the set academic curricula and discuss issues and ideas that are relevant to today. Typically each school sends 2-3 students who participate in 4 standard round events in 6 subjects: Science, Literature, Art & Music, Special Area, History and Social Studies. In 2019, 3 students from Kells Academy represented the school at the local level followed by the global level. At the local round in Montreal, Hai Minh Le, Phuong (Katie) Ha and Carolyn Mae Denton won second place against schools in Montreal region. In the global round at the Hague, Netherlands, our students took the 11th place while competing against more than 500 students from 51 countries. They also qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November 2019, where they scored 15th place overall. Quite an achievement!
