It is with the greatest pleasure that we announce that Mr. William Mitchell, BCS’63, has agreed to serve as the Interim Head of School for the 2019-20 school year. Many of you will recall that Will was the 29th Head of School from 2012-2015 and was instrumental in recruiting our previous Head, Tyler L. Lewis, to BCS. We are delighted that he has agreed to lead the school again, during this transition.
Mr. Mitchell is one of Canada’s most respected leaders in independent secondary school education with an extensive list of professional and personal achievements that inspires admiration. Headmaster of Selwyn House School in Montreal for 24 years, he also taught at Trinity College School for 11 years and at Lower Canada College for three years. During Mr. Mitchell’s three years as Head of School at BCS, he implemented changes that strengthened the school, and made strategic decisions that have proven instrumental in enabling the school to thrive, as it is today.
Mr. Mitchell has remained connected to BCS since his days as a student and has remained deeply engaged with the school since his headship concluded in 2015. Please join us in welcoming him back. We feel extremely fortunate to have him return as our 31st Head of School.
