Author Kate Inglis: Monday May 8th
On Monday May 8th, children’s author Kate Inglis came to visit Glenn Arbour for two exciting sessions. The first session, for grades 4-8, featured exciting story creation techniques and methods, as well as some experiences and insights based on Kate’s own journey as an author. The second session, for JK-Grade 3, featured fun and creative story making strategies, appealing to student’s visual and creative interests and mindsets. GAA students of all ages and grades had thoughtful questions for Kate to learn more about her challenges and triumphs as a children’s author.
Shoe Drive Mother’s Day Slippers Winners!
On Tuesday May 9th, Natalie announced the three lucky winners, who collected the most shoes, for the Mother’s Day Minnie Mouse slipper prize, just in time for Mother’s Day! Congratulations to Jack in Grade 4, Corrigan and Charlotte in SK!
Gauss Math Contest: Wednesday May 10th
The Grade 7 & 8 classes participated in the University of Waterloo Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing 2017 GAUSS contest. The contest was proctored by the Grade 7 & 8 Math teachers, and will be assessed in house as well. The contest offers students a unique opportunity to explore their mathematical insights and applications across a range of contexts. Well done to all of our Grade 7 & 8 participants!
Canada’s 150 Eh? GAA’s 2017 Spring Concert
On Thursday May 11th, GAA held its annual Spring Concert. This year’s show, entitled “Canada’s 150 Eh?” featured a variety of musical tracks and talents generated from our own Canadian singers, song writers and composers. All students work diligently to produce a professional, engaging and thoughtful tribute to our nation’s 150th birthday. Thank you to all of our teacher directors, GAAPTA volunteers and crew members who brought this concert together flawlessly. Well done to all!
U12 & U14 Track and Field: Friday May 12th
On Friday May 12th, select U12 and U14 participants challenged their track and field skills at this SSAF track and field meet, held at York University.
