(4.5) Overall Experience
I really liked my experience with Ontario Virtual School. OVS gave me the freedom to work on my own schedule, prepare for assessments when I wanted to, and not have to cater to anyone’s pre-made schedule. I enjoyed how there were minimal assessments but tested all the knowledge, and the tests were an accurate representation of the content in the course. I especially enjoyed the upgrade option and being able to bypass the assignments and go straight to tests. The exam format was also really good. I felt prepared, and the process was really easy and manageable for both my proctor and me, and there was less pressure, as I got to write the exam at home. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with OVS.
Looking Back
I remember doing my lessons during my spare period at school, and doing the homework and extra practice. I also remember the little gamified point-collecting system that would go off in the corner of your screen every time you completed a lesson.
Current Perspective
I really have grown to love how flexible it is and how much time you have to do everything, complete and hand in tests, study and use the given resources to really make sure you understand the content.
Your Advice
I would advise anyone entering not to lose sight of finishing the course. I needed my midterm for university acceptances, and after midterms, my progress kind of slowed down, but it is important to get the work out of the way so you have time to complete other things.
(4.5) School Leadership
(4.5) Teaching
I took SBI4U with Mr. Adriano Da Cunha, and he was really good at answering questions and marking things really quickly. It helped make the whole course a lot easier and more fluid for me.
