(5) Overall Experience
My overall experience with Ontario Virtual School was really positive. I took MCR3U and really enjoyed having the flexibility to complete the course at my own pace and work around my schedule. The lessons were clear, and the course was organized in a way that made it easy to go back and review anything I needed more help with. My teacher, Ms. Fisher, was very helpful and understanding throughout the course, and I really appreciated how supportive and flexible she was. I was able to finish the course with a 98%, and I feel well prepared to move on to Grade 12 math. Overall, I would recommend OVS, especially to students who like having more control over their schedule and are comfortable learning independently. It was a very convenient and positive experience for me.
Looking Back
What stands out most to me is how flexible the course was. I liked being able to work at my own pace while still having support from my teacher whenever I needed it.
Current Perspective
Now that I’ve completed the course, I appreciate the flexibility even more. I also think the course helped me become more independent and responsible for managing my own learning.
Your Advice
I would recommend staying organized and setting your own deadlines. Having the freedom to work at your own pace is great, but it’s much easier when you stay consistent with the course.
(5) School Leadership
My experience with the administration at Ontario Virtual School was very positive. Communication was clear, and I always knew where to go if I needed information or support. The process of enrolling, completing the course, and receiving my final report was straightforward and well organized. I also appreciated that there were resources available to help students throughout the course. Overall, the school felt organized and student-focused, and I felt that I could reach out if I ever had a question or concern.
(5) Teaching
I was very happy with the quality of teaching I received at Ontario Virtual School. The lessons were clear, organized, and easy to follow, and I liked being able to go back and review concepts whenever I needed to. My teacher, Ms. Fisher, was very supportive and understanding throughout the course. She communicated clearly, provided helpful feedback on my work, and was always willing to help when I had questions. I especially appreciated how flexible and accommodating she was when I was working within a tighter timeline to finish the course. I never felt like I was completely on my own even though the course was online and self-paced. Overall, I had a really positive experience with the teaching at OVS and felt that I understood the material well by the end of MCR3U.
(5) Academics
The academic experience at Ontario Virtual School was very positive. I took MCR3U and found the course content clear, organized, and manageable while still being appropriately challenging. I liked that I could move through the material at my own pace and spend more time reviewing topics that I found difficult. The lessons covered the concepts thoroughly, and there were plenty of opportunities to practice before completing assessments. I also liked having the ability to go back to previous lessons whenever I needed a refresher. The flexibility made it easier to balance the course with everything else in my schedule without sacrificing the quality of my learning. I finished the course feeling confident in the material and prepared to move on to MHF4U. Overall, I think the academic program works especially well for students who are comfortable learning independently.
(5) School Life
Since Ontario Virtual School is completely online, the school experience is obviously different from attending a traditional school in person. For me, one of the best parts was the flexibility it gave me. I could choose when to complete lessons and assessments and fit the course around the rest of my schedule, which made the experience much less stressful. I also liked not having to follow a fixed daily class schedule and being able to work when I was most productive. At the same time, students should expect to be responsible for keeping themselves on track since there is much more independence involved. You do not have the same social environment that you would at an in-person school, but that was not something I was looking for from OVS. Overall, the flexibility and convenience made my experience very positive.
(5) Admissions
The admissions and enrollment process was very straightforward and easy to understand. I did not find the process stressful, and I was able to get started with my course without any major difficulties. The information provided made it clear what I needed to do and what to expect. My advice to someone considering OVS would be to make sure the course fits their academic plans and to give themselves enough time to complete it, especially if they are working toward a specific deadline.
