(5) Overall Experience

Ontario Virtual School is one of a kind. It offers various benefits such as nice teachers, amazing staff for OUAC questions and more. If you put in work, it truly pays off and they value hard work. If I were to do it again, no doubt I would attend OVS again! I needed to upgrade some grade 12 courses and I thought that this school would be perfect for that. The school offers many courses for all high school grades. The lesson plans are all there for you and there is a lesson count to let you know how many you have left to complete, which is a handy progress tracker. I do feel like the courses prepared me well for my next steps in life. There were just a few lesson glitches but most of it was fixed as long as I let someone know about it.

(5) School Leadership

The administration at OVS was very helpful, they were able to prepare my transcript at very short notice and they marked my work in a very timely manner and my official report card was mailed out to me immediately. The schools' administration is very helpful and they want the best for their students. They have such a positive attitude and they are willing to go the extra mile for their students. The admission process is fast and simple.

(5) Teaching

The lessons were all pre-made slideshow presentations with the teacher voicing each slide. It was pretty easy to follow along because I could pause the video at any time. It was much better than sitting in a class because I can't rewind what the teacher said. The quality of teaching is great. The teachers are accredited and are very knowledgable about their subjects. I took Biology and Chemistry and it was obvious that these teachers had a passion for what they were teaching. Whenever I had questions I would simply e-mail the teacher and they would get back to me within 24-48 hours with detailed responses. I felt respected as a student and I didn't feel like I was bothering the teachers. After each test or assignment, I was given feedback. I was provided with the correct answers and the reasoning for each answer. Same with assignments and labs. After I completed the final exams, I was given a report card by mail and was given overall feedback on my performance which I greatly appreciated. I really liked Mr. Wiebe who helped me through grade 12 Chemistry. I could tell he was extremely passionate about teaching and he was very helpful.

(5) Academics

The academic program at Ontario Virtual School prepared me for university and I was able to apply the knowledge well. The teachers were helpful and the school goes above and beyond for their students. This is the first school I attended that caters to the need of their students. I’m currently going to the University of Toronto, Mississauga campus and the skills I learned from OVS are definitely helping me get through the school year with good marks. I would say the innovation for modern education taught me about planning my time with priorities. I started to prioritize schoolwork over going out with friends, which was an amazing skill to learn before university.

(5) School Life

I loved going to Ontario Virtual School it’s the first school I felt respected and understood. If I could do it again I would definitely come back to this school. The students here were always happy and willing to learn because the atmosphere here is great! The school helped me develop me as a person and made me feel welcome. They also let me work at my own pace and did not rush me in any way. They made sure I was happy with my work and they gave a detailed report/reasoning as to why we got that mark and what we could do to improve our marks next time. This is the only school who truly understands the need of their students and don’t judge you on how fast or slow you do your work in traditional terms.

(5) Admissions

Applying here was so easy and the administration helps you with any questions you may have. They help you make sure you have all the prerequisites in order to graduate. The teachers reached out to me when I had some questions on the courses and they told me what the format of the courses are and they broke down the workload in 4 to 8 different units. Also, any issues were resolved right away. When I applied to Ontario Virtual School I was really nervous but when the administration reached out to me they gave me advice on what courses should be taken and what to expect from the school. The school made sure we had all the things needed in order to achieve our grades. They tried to help us with providing amazing feedback.

(5) University placement and counselling

The school helped me achieve my Diploma and made sure I had enough credits to graduate. They messaged me and let me know what courses I was missing that way I would complete them in time so I would be eligible to apply and attend a post-secondary school on time. When I applied to my university they gave me what was needed to apply i.e. my marks were uploaded on OUCA right when I finished them. My transcript was sent to the university immediately. The administration emailed me and asked what school offers I got too and if I had accepted any. They really care about their students and wish the best for them.
