(5) Student Experience

Taking courses with Ontario Virtual School was a really helpful experience, especially because it gave me the flexibility to work at my own pace. I took Grade 12 Calculus and Chemistry through OVS instead of my regular day school because I wanted more control over my schedule and needed to fit the courses around my other commitments. One of the best parts was how organized everything was. The lessons were clear, and the practice tests and online resources made it easier to understand the harder topics. The teachers responded to my questions quickly and marked my assignments and tests in a reasonable amount of time, which helped keep me on track. The Student Success Team was also helpful when I had questions about submitting my final exam or posting my marks. Yes, my final grades were sent to OUAC without any problems, which was really important for my university applications. If anything could be improved, it would be having more video walkthroughs or worked-out examples for complex topics, but overall, OVS made the online learning experience smooth and reliable.

(5) School Leadership

I do respect the school leaders at Ontario Virtual School, including the teachers, guidance counsellors, and administrative staff. They do a good job of making sure everything runs smoothly, and I appreciated how organized and responsive they were, especially when I had questions about course material or final exam procedures. The teachers clearly knew their subjects and gave helpful feedback on assignments. I also liked how fast the office was at handling things like report cards and OUAC submissions. One thing I wish they would do more of is offer more one-on-one support or check-ins throughout the course, especially for students who might be struggling or need extra guidance. Even though it’s an online school, a bit more interaction could make it feel more connected.

(5) Teaching

I think the teachers at Ontario Virtual School have a good balance when it comes to expectations. They don’t ask too much, but they also don’t make it too easy — the workload feels fair. I usually felt like I knew what they expected because the course content was laid out clearly, with rubrics and instructions that were easy to follow. When teachers talked about success, I think they meant doing your best to understand the material, not just getting high marks. They seemed to care more about whether students were actually learning and applying the concepts rather than just memorizing. Success, to them, probably means becoming more independent and responsible as a student, which is important in an online setting. It's very good and I recommend it to everyone

(5) Academics

I found the academic work at Ontario Virtual School to be mostly just right. Some parts were challenging, especially in Chemistry and Calculus, but it was manageable with the resources provided and some extra effort. The lessons were clear, and the practice questions helped a lot when preparing for tests. I definitely think what I learned will be useful later in life, especially if I go into a science or health-related field. Calculus helped me build problem-solving skills and logical thinking, and Chemistry gave me a better understanding of the world around me. Even if I don’t use every formula in the future, the way these courses taught me to study and think critically will be useful no matter what I do. It's amazing.

(5) School Life

If I were giving a tour of Ontario Virtual School to a group of visitors, I would start by showing them the online student dashboard. That’s where everything happens, from accessing lessons and assignments to checking grades and messaging teachers. It’s the main hub, and it really shows how the school is designed to be flexible and self-paced. I would point out how organized the layout is, with each unit clearly listed and easy to follow, which helps students stay on track. I’d also explain how the dashboard makes it easy to manage your progress and time. Starting there would give visitors a good idea of how OVS works and what makes it different from regular in-person schools. It's a very good environment, and everything is very well organized. I recommend this to anyone who wants to take a virtual school that is helpful.

(5) Admissions

The admissions process at Ontario Virtual School was simple and straightforward. All I had to do was choose the course I wanted, fill out some basic information, and make the payment. There wasn’t a long application or waiting period, which made it a lot less stressful than applying to a regular school. If someone is planning to apply, my advice would be to make sure you have your documents ready, like your current report card or transcript if it’s needed, and to double-check that the course you’re taking will count toward your graduation or university plans. When I applied, I didn’t realize how fast things would move — I was able to start my course almost right away. Something I know now that I didn’t know then is that even though the process is easy, you still need to stay organized and motivated since everything is self-paced.
