(5) Student Experience

I took MHF4U with Ontario Virtual School (OVS) after having a tough time at my day school. I was nervous at first since I don’t usually like online classes, but this was honestly the best decision I made. Everything was super clear, the teacher replied quickly, and I actually understood the lessons. Each lesson was clear and divided perfectly. I used the practice tests a lot, and they helped me feel ready. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free. My mark went up, but more importantly, I actually enjoyed learning. I’d definitely take another course with OVS again. 10/10. If you’re struggling in school or just need a fresh start, I highly recommend giving OVS a try. It really made a difference for me.

(5) School Leadership

The teachers and staff at Ontario Virtual School (OVS) were really helpful and respectful, especially the teacher and the staff who send the emails to you. Even though it’s an online school, I never felt alone or ignored. It was always perfect and on time. They replied quickly to emails and were clear with their instructions and feedback, which is quite nice—to get feedback instantly within days, when that would take weeks in face-to-face school. The system was well-organized, too, and I always knew what to do next. You can tell they really care about students doing well. They made the whole learning process smooth and easy to follow for me, which helped me stay on track and feel confident, especially when I also have school to go to while this is online.

(5) Teaching

The teaching at OVS was just perfect; so perfect it’s beyond excellent. The lessons were clear and easy to understand, and I always knew what to do, what my next step was, and even when to expect tests. The teacher answered my questions quickly, gave helpful feedback on what to do and what could be improved, and provided excellent comments for each test. The workload was just right—not too hard or too much. At first, I was hesitant, but then I became more confident, especially since I’ve struggled in the past with understanding math in school. To be honest, it made learning math feel way easier and less stressful than it ever was in school, especially since I had some problems with my teachers at school and found it hard to understand math well.

(5) Academics

The academic level for MHF4U Advanced Functions in this course felt just right. It wasn’t too easy or too hard, it pushed me enough to learn, but not so much that I got overwhelmed. The topics were well explained and broken down step by step, which was perfect. The practice tests and clear lessons really helped me feel ready for each unit, which is exactly what I needed to prepare for any test or exam. I also liked that I could go at my own pace and take extra time when I needed it. What I learned will definitely help me in university, especially since I’m going into a math-related field like engineering. I didn’t feel rushed or pressured, which made it easier to focus. Everything was clear and well organized, so I never felt lost.

(5) School Life

The academic level in this course felt just right. I also liked that I could go at my own pace and take extra time when needed. What I learned will definitely help me in university, especially since I’m going into a math-related field like engineering. I didn’t expect the process to be so simple, but it really was. Everything was fast and clear, and I had no trouble getting started. After seeing how smoothly it went, I wouldn’t hesitate to take another course with OVS.

(5) Admissions

Since OVS is an online school, school life is definitely different from a traditional high school, but in a good way. If I were giving a tour, I’d start by showing the course sections and explaining what each part includes. Everything is clearly laid out: lessons, practice work like practice tests, your marks, and the final exam. There’s no confusion and no pressure. You can focus entirely on learning at your own pace, which was the best part for me. The freedom and flexibility really make a difference. It’s perfect for students who want to take control of their schedule, especially people like me who are also taking courses at their day school.
