(5) Student Experience

I took Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors through OVS, and I had a great experience. The registration was quick and easy, so I got started right away. I enjoyed working at my own pace. The lessons were easy to follow, and the website itself is easy to use. I liked that I could slow down and go back a few lessons on units I'm not yet fully confident in. This means that I could also move ahead when I felt they were easy for me. This flexibility lets me manage my day school along with other extracurricular activities. I don't feel as stressed because I have more than enough time to finish the tests. Overall, I felt like I could learn at my own pace without feeling overwhelmed.

(5) School Leadership

Something that made me really appreciate Ontario Virtual School was how responsive my teacher was. I would send emails to my teacher and get replies within a day or less. It really impacted how I felt knowing that my teacher is always there whenever. They also marked tests extremely fast, which helped me see what I needed to work on. Ms. Bertolo's feedback on my tests was uplifting and pushed me to do better. I did not have to wait long to get any grades or feedback. I feel like this school is really well organized, and the teachers and staff behind it actually care about helping students succeed in their courses.

(5) Teaching

I believe my teacher at OVS never asked for too much or too little. What they expected of me always felt fair, and I had a good understanding of what they were asking for each test and assignment. Instructions were very clear, and her grading was fair. She would always point out where, and how, I could improve. When my teacher talks about success, they mean feeling confident about each unit and being able to apply what I learned on my own without any help. It never felt like it was just about getting a high mark, but actually learning the material and being prepared for university/post-secondary. Overall, the teaching at OVS felt human and really supportive. This school has exceeded my expectations.

(5) Academics

The work was just right for me. The lessons were adequate enough for me to prepare for the upcoming tests. I came to realize that there were no curveballs on any tests or exams, and that made me confident. Some units were difficult for me at first, but their step-by-step approach and easy-to-follow lessons are what made them a bit manageable and motivated me to keep going. I would say I was successful and used the understanding from those lessons to do well on tests. I will definitely be using what I learned in the future, and I am forever grateful for the way Calculus and Vectors were structured. I feel more than prepared to take on university-level courses, and the support from my teachers played a big role.

(5) School Life

(5) Admissions

Getting into OVS was genuinely one of the easiest processes I have experienced. All I had to do was fill out a form and upload documents such as previous report cards to show that I am eligible for Calculus and Vectors. I was enrolled very quickly after submitting my application. There weren't any confusing steps or big delays, just apply, and you are in. If you are thinking about signing up, just have your report card/transcript ready; the rest is a breeze.
