(5) Student Experience

Ontario Virtual School was the best choice I had ever made. They made it so easy for me to sign up and send my grades to OUAC and to my day school. The class I took was HFA4U, and the teacher was super nice, very quick to respond to all of my questions and concerns. The workload was just right because they knew I had to balance this with four other classes. The projects were also a lot of fun because they helped me express myself creatively and not just follow a set of rules and instructions. Overall, the teachers are really great, and the way the lessons are taught makes everything really clear. I would highly recommend OVS to anyone who needs extra credit or grade.

(5) School Leadership

I love the school leaders here because they genuinely care about your grades and really make sure that you get high marks on all of your assignments. The teachers are also very, very quick to respond to any of your emails, and they usually fix any issues or concerns with just one email because that’s how clear and simple they are with problem-solving. Overall, there is a great amount of support at this school, and you will never have to worry about not having enough help.

(5) Teaching

The teachers at OVS are super understanding of all your needs. In fact, at the start of every lesson, they tell you to email your teacher about any concerns or special needs you might have with the course or your general learning. The part of every test and project that says “I know I am successful when…” is always very attainable because the teachers are well aware of their students and what they should expect from them. There is also a part in the submission for projects where you can submit a rough draft and see what your teacher says about it. They always give good, constructive comments on all of your tests and projects to ensure that you know which areas are strong and where to improve.

(5) Academics

Personally, I believe the workload and all the work in general is just right because they are well aware that most people taking these courses have a day school and already have like 4 or 5 other courses to worry about. So, they don’t want to make it like a grade 12 calculus class, but at the same time, they don’t want it to be a walk in the park because they don’t want people trying to cheat the system or anything. They are simply just giving people another chance at getting their credits or improving their grades for universities, such as myself. In fact, if it wasn’t for OVS, I believe I would not be going to the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster this fall. Thank you, OVS.

(5) School Life

It is an online school, so what I would do is take them through the website and show them how clear everything is and how clear the layout is. I would probably spend most of the time showing them the lessons page, where you can have interactive lessons. So, you’re not just sitting there watching a video, you’re also taking quick mini quizzes and other connect-the-dots kind of exercises to really get your brain running, because you not only learn from listening but also from interacting. I also appreciate the simplicity of requesting a midterm report card and a final report card because that can be fairly intimidating, making sure everything is right. But at OVS, they make it very smooth and worry-free.

(5) Admissions

There was no admission process; everyone is welcome into this amazing school. All you have to do is go onto their page, click sign up, and simply type in your email, name, and a couple of other details, then pay and book. You’re all ready to go. You’re able to sign up for courses whenever you’d like without worrying about a thing. It is so quick and easy to start learning anything you want from the comfort of your own home with OVS.
