(5) Student Experience

Taking Grade 11 Functions through Ontario Virtual School was a really positive experience. I loved the flexibility it offered, especially since I have a busy schedule with sports and school. The lessons were easy to follow, and I could learn at my own pace, which made it less stressful than a regular classroom. The teachers were supportive and gave helpful feedback whenever I had questions or submitted work. One thing I wish I had known before starting was how independent the course really is—you need to stay on top of things yourself. If I could change anything, I’d add optional check-ins or reminders to help with time management. Overall, I really liked OVS and would recommend it to any student looking for a flexible and well-structured course.

(5) School Leadership

Yes, I have a lot of respect for the staff at Ontario Virtual School. The teachers are organized, supportive, and quick to respond when I have questions. They explain things clearly and give helpful feedback. The guidance team is also very efficient with course registration and support. I think they do a great job creating a smooth, self-paced learning experience. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to have more optional check-ins or live sessions for students who need extra help or structure. Overall, the leadership is excellent.

(5) Teaching

At Ontario Virtual School, I feel the teachers have realistic and balanced expectations. They challenge students just enough to encourage growth without causing stress. The course instructions are always clear, and the rubrics make it easy to understand what’s required for each assignment or test. I never felt confused about what I needed to do to succeed. When teachers talk about success, I think they’re focused on more than just grades. They want students to understand the material, stay motivated, and become independent learners. Success at OVS means learning how to manage your time, take responsibility, and work through challenges on your own. I really appreciate that kind of approach because it prepares you not just for school, but for life. Overall, the teachers support your growth in both academics and personal responsibility.

(5) Academics

I think the workload at Ontario Virtual School is just right. It challenges me to think critically and stay focused, but it’s never too overwhelming. The course material is explained clearly, and there’s a good balance between lessons, practice, and assessments. I’ve taken Functions, and I can already see how it will be useful later in life—not just for future math courses, but for building important skills like logical thinking, time management, and problem-solving. These are things I know I’ll need in university and in everyday situations. What I really appreciate is that the learning feels meaningful and not just like busy work. The structure allows me to go at my own pace, which helps me absorb the content better. Overall, OVS prepares you well for both academics and life beyond high school.

(5) School Life

If I were giving a tour of Ontario Virtual School, I’d start by showing visitors the “Lessons” tab. This section is the heart of the course—it's where students can access video lessons, practice questions, and important instructions. Everything is laid out in a clear, step-by-step format that makes learning easy to follow and organized. After that, I’d take them to the “Points” tab. This area shows your progress and grades, helping you track how well you’re doing. It’s super motivating to see your marks and know exactly where you stand. Together, the Lessons and Points tabs show how OVS supports student success by making expectations clear and progress easy to measure. Starting the tour here would give visitors a great first impression of how the school helps students stay on track and succeed.

(5) Admissions

The admissions process at Ontario Virtual School was super easy and straightforward. I just filled out the online form, paid the fee, and got access to my course really quickly. There was no stress at all—it was clear what to do at each step. My advice to anyone applying is to double-check your email and payment info, and you’ll be good to go. I didn’t realize how fast everything would happen, so be ready to start learning right away! Overall, it was a smooth and positive experience.
