(5) Student Experience
I took HFA4U through Ontario Virtual School and had a really good experience with the course. The website was easy to use, and everything was organized well, so I always knew where to find my lessons, assignments, and marks. The video lessons were also easy to follow and explained everything clearly. One thing I really liked was how straightforward the assignments were. The instructions and expectations were clear, and the workbooks and course material gave me everything I needed to complete them. I never really felt confused about what I was supposed to do. I also liked being able to work at my own pace because it made it much easier to fit the course around my own schedule. The marking time was really good as well. My assignments were marked pretty quickly, and the feedback from my teacher was helpful. There are also extra supports available through OVS, including guidance/student support and live tutoring for students who need help. Overall, the course was organized really well, and the whole online learning experience was much easier than I expected. I ended up finishing HFA4U with a 97%, and I would definitely recommend OVS to other students, especially if you like having the flexibility to work at your own pace.
The Best Part
The best part about being a student at OVS was being able to work at my own pace. I could do my lessons and assignments whenever it worked best for me without feeling rushed. Everything was organized and easy to access on the website, which made completing the course a lot less stressful. I also liked getting my marks and feedback back quickly so I always knew how I was doing.
Suggested Improvements
There honestly wasn’t much that I disliked about the course, but one thing that could be improved is having a little more interaction with other students. Since everything is online and you work independently, it can sometimes feel like you’re doing the course completely on your own. Having more opportunities to interact with other students could make the experience even better.
Hidden Details
Something that surprised me was how flexible the course actually was. You can work at your own pace and complete lessons and assignments around your own schedule. Even though the course is completely online, everything is laid out clearly, and it’s easy to know what you need to complete next. The teachers also respond and mark assignments pretty quickly, which I didn’t really expect from an online school.
