(5) Student Experience
I had a really positive experience taking HSP3U with Ontario Virtual School. I liked being able to work through the course at my own pace, and the video lessons and course materials made the content easy to follow. The assignments were interesting and gave me opportunities to apply what I learned instead of only memorizing information. My teacher, Martine Mackenzie, was extremely helpful throughout the course. She responded quickly, gave useful feedback on my assignments, and was very understanding whenever I had questions or needed clarification. Her feedback helped me improve my work before submitting my final assignments, and I really appreciated the support she gave me throughout the course. Overall, I had a great experience with OVS and was very happy with the course. I finished HSP3U with a 98%, and I would recommend Ontario Virtual School to students who want a flexible online learning option while still having support from their teacher.
The Best Part
The best part about taking HSP3U with Ontario Virtual School was having the flexibility to work at my own pace while still receiving support when I needed it. I really enjoyed the assignments because they allowed me to apply what I was learning in interesting and creative ways. My teacher, Martine Mackenzie, was also extremely helpful, encouraging, and understanding throughout the course. She provided useful feedback and responded to my questions quickly, which made the overall experience much easier and more enjoyable. I was very happy with my experience and finished the course with a 98%.
Suggested Improvements
One improvement I would suggest is providing a little more guidance or examples for some of the larger assignments before students begin them. Although the instructions were helpful, seeing additional examples could make it easier to understand exactly what is expected. Overall, though, I was very satisfied with the course and the support I received from my teacher.
Hidden Details
Something that surprised me about Ontario Virtual School was how much support I could still receive even though the course was completely online. I expected online learning to feel more independent, but my teacher was very accessible and provided detailed feedback throughout the course. I also liked being able to complete assignments and lessons on my own schedule, which made it much easier to manage the course alongside my regular schoolwork.
(5) School Leadership
I had a very positive experience with the teachers and support at Ontario Virtual School. My teacher, Martine Mackenzie, was extremely kind, helpful, and encouraging throughout my course. She responded to my questions quickly and provided detailed feedback that helped me improve my work. I especially appreciated how understanding and supportive she was while I was completing my final assignments. Even though the course was online, I never felt like I was without help when I needed it. Overall, I was extremely happy with the support I received.
(5) Teaching
I had a very positive experience with the teaching in HSP3U. The course was organized in a way that made it clear what I was expected to learn and complete. The video lessons and course materials helped explain the different topics, while the assignments gave me the opportunity to actually apply what I had learned. I felt that the amount of work was challenging enough to help me learn without being unreasonable. My teacher, Martine Mackenzie, was also a huge part of my positive experience. She gave detailed and helpful feedback that allowed me to understand what I was doing well and what I could improve. Whenever I had a question or needed clarification, I felt comfortable reaching out for help. Overall, I felt supported throughout the course, and I think the teaching and feedback contributed greatly to my success.
(5) Academics
I found the academic level of HSP3U to be challenging but very manageable. The course required me to put effort into my assignments and think critically, but I never felt that the work was unnecessarily difficult. I especially enjoyed learning about psychology, sociology, and anthropology because many of the topics connected to real-life situations and issues that affect people and society. The assignments also allowed me to research topics that interested me and develop my writing, research, and critical-thinking skills. I think a lot of what I learned will be useful in the future because the course helped me better understand human behaviour, relationships, social issues, and different perspectives. Overall, I felt that the academic expectations were fair and that the course was both interesting and meaningful. I finished with a 98% and was very happy with what I learned.
(5) School Life
Since Ontario Virtual School is completely online, instead of giving a traditional tour, I would first show a new student the online course platform and how the lessons are organized. I would show them how easy it is to access the video lessons, course materials, assignments, and feedback all in one place. I would also explain the flexibility of being able to work at your own pace and create a schedule that works with your regular schoolwork and other responsibilities. One of the things I appreciated most was that even though the course was online, I still felt connected to my teacher and could reach out whenever I needed help. The platform made it easy to stay organized and keep track of my progress throughout HSP3U. Overall, the online format was convenient, flexible, and easy to navigate.
(5) Admissions
The enrollment process with Ontario Virtual School was simple and straightforward. I found it easy to get started with my course and understand how everything worked once I was enrolled. I would recommend that new students take some time at the beginning to look through the course structure, deadlines, and assignment requirements so they know what to expect. I also learned that you should not be afraid to reach out to your teacher if you have questions because they are there to help. Overall, the process was convenient and much less stressful than I expected, and I was able to begin working on my course without any major difficulties.
