(5) Student Experience

My name is Ellie, and I just recently took the Core French course (FSF3U) for grade eleven. It was so interesting! Each lesson was engaging for the most part, and it's helpful that you can go at your own pace. Tests are pretty easy to study for, and all my assignment evaluations seemed more than fair. I also really appreciated my teacher, Mme Franco. She always responded to my emails super fast and gave me proper and legit encouragement as well as feedback when needed. All of my assignments were marked promptly, and overall she was extremely reliable and responsive. The layout of the OVS website is also easy to navigate and helps direct you to the right information. Overall, I would ten out of ten recomend Ontario Virtual School; you seriously get your money's worth!

The Best Part

The best part is, quite honestly, the teachers. For my French course, my teacher (Ms. Franco) also marked things super fast, gave me help over email when needed, and took the time to get to know me on a personal level.

Suggested Improvements

One tiny suggestion I would make would be to get someone who is more animated and less monotone to voice the lessons. The woman doing mine was great, but sometimes I would get a bit bored just due to her tone and lack of enthusiasm.

Hidden Details

A surprise I had (and that I think other students would have) was the responsiveness of the teachers there. They are honestly all super helpful and want you to do well. They show this by offering you constructive feedback but at the same time giving the encouragement you've earned.

To be honest, I never really learned much about people like the headmaster, managers, or guidance counsellors. As for teachers, I couldn't say more positive things. They respond promptly and are extremely organized. I was once working on a project on a Saturday and had a question, so I emailed my French teacher. She actually responded within 30 minutes, which I found to be utterly impressive and amazing, and it truly shows how much the teachers do care about their students.

(5) Teaching

As I've said before in my review, the teaching is just utterly amazing. You are offered endless support and are met with teachers who want to see you thrive. French for me was a bit hard, obviously, because it was a newer language, but I got everything I needed and then some. Emails are responded to promptly, and report cards and grades are given fairly and thoughtfully. I remember when I first enrolled in this French course, I emailed my teacher (Mme. Franco) to introduce myself, and was surprised that I got an email back within the same twenty minutes. It honestly just goes to show how much the teachers care about you and how much effort they truly are willing to put in in order to see their students thrive.

Well, it's a bit hard to answer this question due to the online aspect of OVS. But, I'd show them the website and tell them abou tthe interactive quizzes which are a personal favouritee of mine.
