(4) Student Experience
Through my time at Ontario Virtual School, I learned what was necessary to complete the course I was enrolled in (Grade 12 Data Management). I wouldn't say it was an easy way to learn, but having support from my teacher was helpful. If I were to say something I wish I knew before I joined, it would be that not all the concepts are explained in the lessons, and the textbook provided is sometimes not enough to understand the concepts. If I could change one thing, it would be that the teacher would explain all the concepts in the lessons, or at least say that there is more in the textbook, because it was very confusing before I figured that out. Also, more practice questions would be helpful.
The Best Part
The best part of being a student at this school is that you can work at your own pace, and there is a calendar that can help you plan how you manage your work.
Suggested Improvements
To improve the experiences of students at this school, I would change the course planner so that it wouldn't show every item twice (I have no idea why it does that), and I would tell the teachers to write clearer explanations in their replies to students.
Hidden Details
The format of the lessons and courses is pretty easy to use, but you do need to figure out how to navigate the website because it is more complicated than expected. There are also more resources than I expected, but they are sometimes hard to find.

I only have experience with one teacher, but my experience was not the best ever. He certainly helped me, and it was nice to know I had somewhere I could ask questions if I was confused, but his replies often didn't explain things. One time, I asked him about a couple of concepts that were mentioned in the homework but not in the lessons or textbook, and instead of going through them with me, he just said they were not relevant to the assessment of the course. I think he should have known that the assessment isn't the only reason to take a course-I actually wanted to learn.
