(5) Student Experience

I love Ontario Virtual School. I was referred by a friend, and at first I thought it wouldn’t be easy because it’s an online school. But to my surprise, the experience has been very stress-free. I really like that the teachers are kind, supportive, and always willing to help whenever you have questions or need feedback on your work. I also love the fact that you can study and complete your exams at your own pace without feeling pressured. This made it much easier for me to balance school with other responsibilities. Communication with the teachers has also been helpful, especially whenever I needed clarification or assistance with my courses. Overall, OVS has been very convenient and flexible, and I’ve had a positive experience studying with them. I would definitely recommend OVS to other students looking for a flexible online school.

The Best Part

The best part about being a student here is that you get to choose your test and exam dates at your convenience. I also love that you can rewatch lectures as many times as you want.

Suggested Improvements

I feel like new students may not fully understand how flexible this school is until they experience it for themselves. So one thing that may surprise them is just how flexible the school really is. You can work at your own pace and complete lessons and exams around your own schedule, but you still need to stay disciplined and manage your time well since there are no regular in-person classes.

Hidden Details

(5) School Leadership

The headmaster is a wonderful man! One time, I accidentally paid for and registered for the wrong course. When I reached out to him and explained the situation, he was very kind and understanding. He felt sorry about what had happened and offered me a very generous discount toward the new course I needed to register for. The school really cares about its students. It doesn’t feel like they just want your money; they genuinely want you to have the best experience possible and achieve the results you need.

(4) Teaching

At first, I thought the teachers were asking too much of me, but I later realized that they were doing it to make sure I genuinely understood what I had learned. The assignments and feedback can sometimes feel challenging, but I think that is part of what helps students improve. The teachers also try to push you to do your best so that you can achieve better results and understand the course material properly instead of just rushing through it. I also appreciate that they are willing to explain things and give feedback when you need help. Over time, I started to understand what was expected of me and became more confident in completing my work. Overall, I feel like the teachers want students to succeed and are willing to support you while still encouraging you to put in the effort

(4.5) Academics

I think the academic work at OVS is challenging enough to make you think, but it is still manageable if you stay organized and keep up with your lessons. I like that the courses are structured in a way that allows you to understand the material before moving on to the next topic. Some assignments can take more time than expected, but they help you practice what you have learned and prepare for tests and exams. I also feel that what I am learning will be useful later because the courses help build important skills such as time management, independent learning, critical thinking, and responsibility. Overall, I think the academic experience is balanced, and students can do well if they are willing to put in the effort and ask for help when needed.

(4) School Life

If I were giving someone a tour of Ontario Virtual School, the first thing I would show them would be the course planner. Since there are no regular in-person classes, I think the course planner is very helpful because it keeps you organized and helps you stay on track with your work. It gives you an idea of what you should be working on and helps you manage your time, especially when you are studying at your own pace. It is easy to get distracted or fall behind when you are doing online school, so having something that keeps you accountable makes a big difference. I would definitely show a new student how to use the course planner because, for me, it is one of the things that makes studying independently at OVS much easier and more organized.

(5) Admissions

Overall, the admissions process was smooth and straightforward. One thing I didn’t know when I first enrolled was that some courses have prerequisite requirements, so that caused a little confusion for me at the beginning. My advice to anyone enrolling for the first time would be to check the course requirements beforehand and make sure you have the necessary prerequisites ready before registering. Once I understood what was required, the rest of the process was easy to follow. Whenever I had questions or needed assistance, the school was helpful in guiding me through the process. Overall, I had a positive experience with admissions, and I think being prepared with the right documents and prerequisites makes the process even easier.
