Jordan grows at St. John's Kilmarnock

Find a list of schools

By Grade 2, Jordan was wrestling; by Grade 4, he was competing.

This year, with 14 wrestling medals to his credit, not to mention soccer and rugby achievements, he graduated from St. John's-Kilmarnock School and headed for recreational and leisure studies at the University of Waterloo.

"I was always into the phys-ed program," he says. "We had some really good teachers."

In a school covering JK to Grade 12, "you really get to know your teachers," says Jordan, 17. "It's great having a small community. You get to know everybody. And often you get to know teachers before they teach you. My Grade 2 wrestling coach, Guy Zink, was my Grade 7 homeroom teacher. He was retiring this year. It gets to be very emotional at the end. But this is somewhere I will always be comfortable coming back to."
