It is important to have a good teacher to child ratio to make sure our kids do not fall behind. I was in the public school system myself and having 32 kids in 1 class is not correct. The only way to make things better for your children is to do your research and find somewhere that can support what you want your children to have. I do not want my kids to be lost; I want my kids to lead one day. And to lead; you must be listened to and heard. Better ratio of student to teachers is the important. Here at RCA you get this and this makes me happy that as a parent I have helped provide a better foundation of education for my children.
The teachers are involved as well as the upper teaching levels. Communication is good and they do their best to make sure that all the children are looked after. The importance of this is high because the focus needs to be on the children. Listening; and understanding what the children are doing; acting and saying is important to also avoid bullying. I especially liked hearing them say "don't talk negatively about someone if they are not here to defend themselves". This is great to squash gossip. This was of course just one example.
I always want more work. More work sheets; more practice; and more content. But that is just me; not every little mind can handle this. The teachers do always have the answers to the children's questions and are doing well with their concerns. Zoom teaching is hard; no one was expecting to do this. Last year when it started; I am sure everyone was disappointed including the teachers. This year I have seen a much greater improvement on their current new way of teaching. They have adapted well and am content.
I do find that they explain a lot of the content; and work together with the teacher on Zoom a lot. The teachers control the rooms well and are patient with their little minds. They are working hard on making sure that my children are prepared for social aspects in life as well. I would recommend some more teaching of taxes; costs of living; working; what people do for a living. This information early would help others to learn this. If they can teach this in schools it would greatly improve their success rates as much as possible. This is different than current academics; which follows generally the public school system.
I do hear the kids are doing some sports as they can. The more; the better. It is important to keep kids active and focused on health. Sitting on Zoom or sitting in a class room does not. If the kids could discuss sports a little more in school; this could help. Even in Zoom; we could teach children about sports.
The spirit at the school is good. I feel that all the older kids are supportive of the young ones. Before COVID they mixed all very well; to improve their social aspects and respect to the smaller ones. This is of course harder to do right now; but they did manage it quite well. The size of the student body is good; it does not feel like there are too many kids in the school or the classes. They get along well; The better prepared for positive and constructive reinforcement of good and true values the better the children will do.
The kids enjoy going to school at RCA. They develop good friendships with other like minded kids; in a safe environment. Everyone is the same; everyone is equal. And everyone is unique; and celebrated. Everyone is special at the school; and showing compassion when someone is sad is important for them to know that we all go through things together. The families get along well at RCA; and especially with the year end BBQ's we would have (pre-covid); was absolutely wonderful. I did enjoy taking my kids to it; and it was a pleasant get together. I do feel the after school activities are good as well (before covid) with good interactions with families and the community as a whole.
I do like that they ask for us to be involved. I do like that they do 'grandparents day' or host events for the elderly to see the kids. Some of the older people in the community do not have any interaction with small children; and knowing that our kids can bring them some joy with their musicals is important. Getting your name out there as a positive place with good values is important and this I feel in the community they have accepted this. It is a good facility and good environment for the children to attend with community support.
The students all stay on the school grounds especially during covid. We have in the past done some school trips and those have been done well and tastefully so the kids can experience some 'in the field' teaching. The school is situated in a good place easy to find and I do find it a safe place.
