I think the key things I was looking for in a school, that would be preparing (my son) for middle school and the high school process, was it nurtured curiosity and a love for learning... A good school that teaches for one year is nothing if the child doesn't love to learn. That was very important to me.

Sunnybrook does really well at creating a supportive, comfortable environment where your child can be themselves.
The families know each other well. There is a close community. They know each other's kids…I think it is a safe environment for them to gain confidence and grow.
I feel what the staff and the teachers have created at Sunnybrook School is so valuable that the children and the students who come through there may not realize it (yet), but the foundation, the confidence, the awareness, the exposure that they're giving them will serve them absolutely.
The teachers are great at what they do from a teaching perspective, but they also have created an environment where the children love to come. It is comfortable, it is relaxed, yet rigorous.
Their academic rigor, the excellence they bring to everything they do, the thoughtfulness, I think it's reflected in the school.
For children between JK and grade six, I believe this is the best institution to send them to. To provide them with a solid foundation in their learning and to give them an environment where they can grow to be confident and self-aware, which will help them in their later years in middle school and high school and beyond.
Your child is not missing out on opportunities because it's not a large school. If anything, your child is gaining because of the small class, supportive environment, exceptional teachers, and very thoughtful program.
I would recommend doing the open house to see and hear and even talking to parents because they will give you their perspective and you will find that kids who join in JK, they stay until grade 6.
My child got into all the schools he applied to, coming out of Sunnybrook. They are just so thoughtful in how they put this together.
Go and do the tour. I cannot recommend it enough. Do the tour and I just think it will give your child the wings to fly in grade seven.
