(5) Student Experience
Being at Sunray Academy has honestly been such a great experience. The teachers are super helpful and always make sure you actually understand what’s going on instead of just rushing through lessons. The classes are organized but never boring, which makes school a lot more enjoyable. I also like how there’s always clear communication and plenty of resources provided, so you never feel lost. Before I started, I wish I had known how much less stressful this would be compared to in-person high school classes. I feel like I’m actually learning and improving instead of just trying to get through assignments. Honestly, I would not change anything about the school because the whole setup works perfectly, and it has been way better than I expected.
The Best Part
The best part about being a student at Sunray Academy is the flexibility it provides. As a student athlete, it actually allowed me to stay active and focus on my sport while still keeping up with all my school requirements. Most students look forward to the free time they get. During this free time, I was able to hang out with friends, indulge in my hobbies, and even get my homework done.
Suggested Improvements
One small improvement could be having a few more practice exercises on the online learning platform of Sunray Academy, for specific areas in the lesson. It would make it even easier to stay on top of our work be good for self-improvement.
Hidden Details
What might surprise a new student is how their main focus is on supporting you. They offer pre- and post guidance through 1:1 sessions at no extra cost. They even have a 7-day free trial, which I don’t think any other school offers. It’s a great way to see how classes work and get a feel for the teachers and schedule before committing.
(4.5) School Leadership
I really respect the principal, the teachers, and the guidance counsellors at Sunray Academy. They’re all pretty approachable, and you can tell they actually care about students doing well. The teachers explain things clearly and make learning easy to follow, and the counsellors are always there if you need advice. The principal has a great vision, and she keeps everything running smoothly. I wish there were even more 1:1 sessions just to make sure everyone feels on track, but overall, they do an amazing job.
(5) Teaching
I think the teachers at Sunray Academy strike a perfect balance. They don’t ask too much or too little from you, and it’s always clear what they expect from us. The lessons are really straightforward, and the teachers explain everything in a way that makes it easy to understand and follow. When they talk about success, I think they imagine it as for us not only getting good grades, but also really understanding what we are learning, while staying on top of our work and building our skill base. They want students to feel prepared for whatever they might want to do in their future. Honestly, it feels like they genuinely care about our growth, not just the marks we get or how many assignments are late. It makes learning so much less stressful.
(4) Academics
The work at Sunray Academy feels just about right. It’s challenging enough to keep me engaged, but not so hard that it becomes a stressful and overwhelming part of my daily life. The teachers make sure everything is explained clearly, which helps a lot when you face something that you have never learned before. I think most of what we’re learning will be useful later in life because the course not only focuses on memorizing facts but also on understanding concepts in a practical way. Sometimes a few lessons can be a little easy, but overall it has a good balance. I feel like I’m learning things I can actually apply outside of school, which gives a different type of motivation to complete and learn from my work.
(3.5) School Life
Since Sunray Academy is an online school, giving a tour is a little different, but I would start by showing visitors the head office. It’s where students can go for in-person 1:1 sessions with the guidance counsellor if they need help with their classes, their schedules, or to plan for the future. I’d also make sure to mention that you can meet the principal during special sessions. Meeting the staff that takes care of everything for you, in person, really gives you a sense of how everything works and what goes into the process, even though most learning is online. After this, I would give them an overview of the online platform used for teaching and how to navigate and access all the resources.
(5) Admissions
The admissions process at Sunray Academy was honestly pretty smooth and straightforward. Everything was explained clearly, and the staff made sure I knew what to do at every step. It wasn’t stressful at all. My advice to anyone applying is to just follow the instructions and ask questions if anything is confusing. Everyone there is happy to help, and you can ask the guidance counsellor for specific advice. I also took the 7-day free trial, which allowed me to be sure that this was the school I wanted to attend.
