MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP
We invited Mr. Greg Playford, Principal at The Maples Academy, to share a message.
The overview highlights the vision, values, and guiding principles that shape leadership and the student experience at The Maples Academy.
Mr. Greg Playford, Principal
At The Maples Academy, we believe that every child has the potential to achieve extraordinary things when they are known, supported, and challenged. Our mission is to provide an exceptional educational experience where academic excellence is balanced with character development, creativity, and student well-being.
As a small, independent IB World School, we combine the strengths of the Ontario curriculum with the inquiry-based philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Our Montessori Kindergarten provides a strong foundation for our youngest learners, while our elementary program encourages students to become confident thinkers, effective communicators, and compassionate members of their communities.
Our dedicated educators create classrooms where curiosity is celebrated, questions are encouraged, and every student is inspired to reach their full potential. Small class sizes allow us to know each child as an individual, tailoring instruction to meet their unique strengths while providing the support and challenge they need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Learning extends well beyond the classroom. Whether students are developing leadership through service opportunities, exploring athletics and the arts, participating in outdoor education, or collaborating on meaningful projects, they are encouraged to take risks, demonstrate resilience, and develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
At the heart of everything we do is our belief that education should inspire confidence, integrity, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning. We strive to graduate young people who are not only academically prepared for future success but who also possess the character and compassion to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our school. We invite you to experience The Maples Academy community and discover why our students are empowered each day to live our motto: Learning As It Should Be.
