(5) Student Experience
Both of my daughters truly benefited from the many opportunities Trafalgar Castle School provides for students to grow, not only academically, but also as individuals and leaders. Through a wide range of programs, including athletics, music, the arts, and co-curricular activities such as Robotics and Beyond the Castle, they were encouraged to explore their interests and develop confidence in their abilities. My youngest daughter, now in Grade 12, found inspiration in Trafalgar Castle’s STEM program and Robotics Club, which both challenged her and sparked a passion for engineering. As a result, she has already received several university offers for engineering this coming September. My eldest daughter discovered her love for both science and the arts at Trafalgar Castle, ultimately combining these interests in her pursuit of dentistry. The school’s dedicated faculty, leadership, and strong sense of community helped shape my daughters into confident, capable young women ready to take on the future.
Why Trafalgar Castle School?
Trafalgar Castle School has a strong reputation for its academic rigour, and I love that it’s an all-girls school where students build confidence and leadership skills, but it is also a very close-knit community and a nurturing environment.
Expectations vs. Reality
The all-girls environment at Trafalgar Castle School has been the key to my daughters’ success. When girls are in an all-girls environment, they’re more eager to speak up and take those intellectual risks. In addition to its strong academic program, which is aligned with future-ready skills, the school provides its students with so many opportunities to explore their interests and grow as individuals.
Your Advice
Attend an open house, talk to the faculty, parents, and students, tour the classrooms, learn how technology is used, etc. Ask yourself, "Do I see myself here?" Attending a school open house before selecting a school can provide insights you simply cannot get from websites, brochures, or rankings. It helps families evaluate the fit, culture, and real experience of the school.
(5) School Leadership
The leadership at Trafalgar Castle School is responsive, fair, and highly communicative. They address concerns thoughtfully, handle discipline judiciously, and consistently foster a supportive, positive school environment. They not only send regular communication through online tools and emails, but they are available any time a parent reaches out.
(5) Teaching
The teachers at Trafalgar Castle are exceptional—passionate experts who challenge and support students while dedicating countless hours to co-curriculars, including camp, robotics, music, arts, and athletics.
(5) Academics
Trafalgar Castle School offers a rigorous and well-rounded academic program that encourages both intellectual curiosity and personal growth. The school fosters a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and confidence, where students are encouraged to challenge themselves while receiving the support they need to succeed. Strong programs in STEM, the arts, and experiential learning allow students to explore diverse interests and develop critical-thinking skills. The environment is both nurturing and motivating, helping students build independence, resilience, and leadership. I feel very confident that Trafalgar Castle’s academic program has prepared, and continues to prepare, my daughters exceptionally well for university and the opportunities that follow.
(5) Extracurriculars
Although Trafalgar Castle School is relatively small, it offers an impressive range of extracurricular opportunities that allow students to participate both competitively and simply for enjoyment. From athletics and robotics to music, arts, leadership initiatives, and experiential programs like camp and Beyond the Castle, students are encouraged to explore their interests and try new activities. The smaller school environment often makes it easier for students to get involved and take on meaningful roles. Overall, the school provides a supportive context that helps students develop confidence, leadership skills, and a well-rounded set of experiences beyond the classroom.
(4.5) Students
Trafalgar Castle School has a smaller student body (under 275 students across Grades 4–12), which creates a close-knit and welcoming community. Students tend to know one another across grades, and there is a strong sense of school spirit and belonging. What stands out most is the supportive and collaborative atmosphere—students encourage one another academically, athletically, and in co-curricular activities. The dynamic between students is generally respectful and inclusive, with friendships often forming across different interests and grade levels. The environment fosters confidence and leadership while maintaining a warm, positive culture where students genuinely celebrate each other’s successes.
(4.5) School Life
The overall quality of student life at Trafalgar Castle School is excellent. My daughters genuinely enjoyed going to school each day because of the supportive environment, close friendships, and the many opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom. The smaller community helps students feel known and valued, while the wide range of academics, athletics, arts, and leadership opportunities keeps students engaged and motivated. The school does a wonderful job fostering confidence, independence, and leadership. While every school can continue to evolve with student needs, Trafalgar Castle consistently prioritizes student well-being and belonging. Prospective families should know that it is a place where students are encouraged to discover their passions, build lasting friendships, and grow into confident young women.
(5) Community
The broader community at Trafalgar Castle School is welcoming, engaged, and deeply supportive of the school’s mission. As a member of the Parent Guild and the Parent Guild Executive, I have seen firsthand the thoughtful effort that goes into including parents in the life of the school. There are many opportunities to stay connected through online meetings, in-person events, and initiatives that allow parents to support the school community as a whole. Parents are encouraged to participate and contribute, and there is a strong sense of partnership between families and the school, which helps strengthen the overall community.
(5) School Location
Trafalgar Castle School is well connected to the surrounding community, and students regularly engage beyond the school grounds through a variety of meaningful experiences. What stands out is how often students participate in competitions, educational trips, and community initiatives that allow them to learn and grow together outside the classroom. There are also many opportunities for volunteering and giving back within the broader local community. These experiences help students build confidence, develop a sense of social responsibility, and strengthen their connection to the world beyond the school.
(5) Admissions
My advice to anyone applying to Trafalgar Castle School is to approach the process as an opportunity to learn about the school and determine if it is the right fit for your child. In our experience, the admissions team was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely interested in getting to know our daughters as individuals. The process felt thoughtful rather than stressful, with admissions officers working with us to answer questions and guide us along the way. Their focus on fit and community stood out. Overall, we found the admissions process clear and positive, and there is very little we would change about it.
(5) University placement and counselling
The university counselling program at Trafalgar Castle School is very supportive and informative. The school hosts numerous university and college fairs, along with guest speakers and campus tours, giving students valuable exposure to a wide range of post-secondary options. Students receive guidance throughout the application process, helping them understand requirements and prepare strong applications. I felt that the counselling team provided helpful advice and encouraged students to explore programs that matched their interests and strengths. Overall, the program offers meaningful support and opportunities that help students feel well-prepared and confident when applying to their preferred post-secondary institutions.
