Application Details:
The John Smallwood Bursary Program provides enrollment subsidies to economically disadvantaged students by ensuring that they have access to quality online education as they work to achieve their academic goals. The bursary is offered 12 times per year. Complete applications include the application form, the parent(s)'s most recent notice(s) of assessment, an up-to-date high school transcript, and a written piece communicating future plans. The goal of the VHS International Student Bursary is to assist our International students with access to high-quality online education as they work to achieve their academic goals. The bursary is offered 6 times per year. Complete applications include the application form, the parent(s)'s most recent notice(s) of assessment, an up-to-date high school transcript, and a written piece communicating future plans.

Julie O'Rourke Memorial Scholarship (Academic)
Eligibility Details:
Students from Gr. 12 are eligible.
Students must be accepted or conditionally accepted at a Post-Secondary Fine Arts or Design Program; Students must be a current student with Virtual High School or have successfully completed a course with VHS within the past three (3) years from the date you apply for the scholarship.
Requirements include a completed application, portfolio (photographs, an audio clip, or video of some of your work, in any medium), and a copy of an acceptance letter to a Post-Secondary Fine Arts or Design Program. You must be a current student with Virtual High School or have successfully completed a course with VHS within the past three (3) years from the date you apply for the scholarship.

The Sommerville Scholarship (Academic)
Eligibility Details:
Students from Gr. 12 are eligible.
The Sommerville Scholarship is awarded annually to one student whose intentions are to attend a Post-Secondary institution in the History, Geography, Economics, or Politics departments in a Canadian or International Institution. This student will be currently enrolled in one of VHS’ Canadian and World Studies department courses. In addition, this student will exemplify the characteristics of Mr. Ed Sommerville, a long-time teacher with Virtual High School. Mr. Sommerville exhibits tenacity, dedication, loyalty, and honesty. His tenure with Virtual High School only further shows the exceptional impact that Mr. Sommerville has had and continues to have on VHS and his students.
Requirements:
- Be registered as full-time student in a baccalaureate program, pursuing either a major or minor in History/Politics at a University or College (letter of acceptance required).
- Registered in at least one Canadian and World studies course at VHS
- Demonstrate Academic Excellence
- Student will exemplify the characteristics of tenacity, dedication, loyalty, and honesty.
Scholarship Information:
- One candidate will be chosen each submission period to receive this award.
- Students granted the scholarship will receive a cheque for $1000 to be used towards their post-secondary aspirations
