    Rotherglen School was founded in 1979 by Marie Laningan at the Erin Mills campus. The school has grown in the intervening years to include four locations, all of which share the same approach. Were all the students housed at one campus, Rotherglen would be one of the largest independent schools in the area, home to 1000 students annually. The various locations, however, afford a unique sense of community within each, with small class sizes, and a close-knit feel. While aesthetics don’t mean everything, they nevertheless do mean something, and the school is physically beautiful, with dedicated, consistent learning spaces.

    I believe in educating the heart as well as the mind. Through lessons from the Word and a caring, supportive Christian community, we give students a strong foundation to build quality character. We take advantage of our spacious grounds to take learning beyond the classroom and keep children engaged.

     

    I am thankful to be part of CNCS and for the opportunity to teach and help children grow into themselves. We deliver a curriculum which provides students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop positive values, attitudes and behaviours. In Casa (JK/SK) and our Primary program (Grade 1 to 3), our students develop independence and experience the joy of personal discovery through Montessori methods. Our small classes and low teacher-to-student ratios enable our experienced and qualified Montessori teachers to know your children as individuals and to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. From Grade 4 to Grade 8, the student transitions to a progressive model of teaching, based on an enriched Ontario Curriculum, yet still with a focus on the individual learning needs of each child.     An entrance assessment for students entering Grade 1 is conducted on an informal basis with a school administrator and lasts approximately 30 minutes. Students in Grades 2 through Grade 8 complete a formal written assessment which takes approximately 90 minutes.
