Anchored in the community for over 20 years, É.M.i.M`s mission is to awaken each child`s potential, develop intellectual curiosity, promote intrinsic motivation and encourage eagerness to discover. É.M.i.M is a trilingual Montessori environment. Our students communicate in both French and English fluently; Spanish is taught as a third language. our takeOne the great attributes of Montreal private schools is the provision of a very rich linguistic environment, and É.M.i.M is an excellent example of that. Elsewhere in Canada, early childhood learning environments are, regrettably, uni-lingual. Montreal, of course, is the very definition of a multi-cultural, multi-linguistic environment, and É.M.i.M is an expression of that. Students learn within an environment that is authentically bilingual, with Spanish taught as a third language. The benefits of that kind environment, as research has shown, is profound, and not limited to language acquisition. That students can access it at such an early age is equally profound. Following on, the programs at É.M.i.M are personal, and situated within a vibrant community context.

Primary Curriculum: Montessori

Particularly popular in the younger grades (preschool to elementary), but sometimes available all the way up to high school, Montessori schools offer an alternative vision to the standard lesson format of most classrooms. Lessons are highly decentralized: children typically work individually (though sometimes with others) on specialized "Montessori materials" -- without interference from the teacher. The materials are self-correcting and teach the student something about the subject at hand. The method's goal is to develop children's innate desire to learn, while freeing up time for teachers to help children individually, as needed.

What EMIM says: The goal is to enable children to attend a Montessori throughout their education, from kindergarten to Grade 6 primary. From a young age, children in bilingual education (French and English) from the pre-kindergarten and begin the study of Spanish in kindergarten (5 years).
