Educating the whole child

Character education, instrumental and vocal music lessons, art, drama, robotics, hands-on science and an enriched French program contribute to Hudson’s commitment to educating the whole child.

The Hudson College Middle School Preparatory Program was created to formalize and consolidate the skills that students need in preparation for high school beyond core academic skills: executive functioning, communication, stress management, and community service.

“We’ve always informally done that,” says Jody Mount, though the program provides an opportunity to formalize the presentation of those skills as a core component of the curriculum.

An expansive learning environment

“We offer an environment where students can relax and be themselves, which enables them to do their best academically, socially and emotionally,” says Mount.

Hudson maintains small class sizes in all grades.  Starting with the Reggio-Emilia program in Kindergarten, students are continuously challenged and enriched right through High School, preparing them properly for college and/or university entrance.  Sports are also a very large component of student life at Hudson. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, badminton and many other sports are offered as House and Varsity programs.  It is all about creating a balanced educational setting for every step in a student’s education.
