Welcome to Blyth Academy Online, where you get to learn what you want, when you want, where you want.
Your course is asynchronous, which means you can log on at any time, and engage with it. There are no deadlines, so when you learn, when you research, when you contribute, and when you are assessed is up to you. Everything is online, so where you access the course from, where you take the tests, and where you do one of your virtual labs, essays or presentations is up to you.
You have a teacher who will get in touch with you soon after you enrol. Your teacher will facilitate your progress through the online course, answering questions, giving feedback, interacting with you online, guiding you to other resources, and assessing and evaluating your work. Your teacher will aim to get a full picture of you as a learner through as many means as possible. Your teacher will make sure that you get every opportunity to demonstrate your skills and understanding.
What will be needed from you is a commitment to devote the time and energy to the course to ensure you are able to demonstrate your achievement of the expectations of the course. If you have a target for the completion of the course, plan the time you have so that you make the progress you need and stay on track.
Be aware too, that some of the skills and strategies that you have developed as a learner during your years in a classroom may not be effective online. Putting your hand up might not help if you are alone on the deck at your cottage. Learning online requires different strategies, but our teachers know this, and will help you develop them. They are strategies that will help you as you continue your life of learning, as more and more takes place online, and as you are expected to be more and more autonomous.
It is time to fit your learning around your life, not the other way around.
