(4.5) Student Experience
I really like the teaching methods at Braemar. I am a "hands-on learner," and there is a lot of opportunity to try new things. The teachers and coaches are knowledgeable and supportive. It was hard coming into Grade 8 as a new student, but everyone from the staff and students made me feel welcome. The uniform makes it a lot easier in the morning. Using Google Classroom is fun and a great way to organize and access assignments. The playground is also really big and can fit a lot of kids during outdoor recess. There is space for everyone to do whatever they enjoy. The classrooms are very organized and laid out well with lots of room for work tables, desks, and technology. I am feeling very happy and comfortable at Braemar House.
The Best Part
The small class sizes make it easier to get time with the teacher and develop connections with the other students. We go on lots of field trips and experience a variety of community involvement.
Suggested Improvements
At this time, I am very happy with everything I have experienced so far. I can't think of anything that should or can be changed.
Hidden Details
Coming from the public school system, I was surprised at how many specialized teachers, sports equipment, and events are a part of Braemar's regular program.
(4.5) School Leadership
The teachers are always present and available if you need to get help with something. They are actively involved in all parts of the school day. The teachers even challenge the students to fun games such as volleyball, staff vs students.
(4.5) Teaching
The teachers are always encouraging you to do your best and try your hardest. They are there with suggestions and feedback to help. Assignments are manageable and clearly outlined.
(4.5) Academics
So far the work has been challenging but not frustrating. The teachers have been there to answer questions and google classroom makes it easy to connect with other classmates.
(4.5) Extracurriculars
So far I have only participated in soccer and I had a great time. There are lots of things for people to get involved in. The musical brings everyone together.
(4.5) Students
The students in the school are really nice, and they all get along. At recess, all of the kids play games such as soccer, football, and basketball. It doesn't matter what grade you are in; everyone is included.
(4.5) School Life
I would start off by taking them to the gym to show the where all the assemblies take place. Then i would take them for a walk down the hall to show them the work happening in different classrooms and artwork displayed on the walls.
(4.5) Community
Right away, I felt very comfortable. Everyone is friendly and helpful. It didn't take long for me to settle right in and start making friends.
(4.5) School Location
We stay on campus unless we are going out to do something in the community as a class (Going to the gym, visiting the food bank, or seeing a play).
(4.5) Admissions
When I was considering Braemar, I had the chance to sit in a classroom for 2 days and see how things worked. It gave me a chance to meet some of the classmates I would be with. It was helpful to have this opportunity before making my final decision.
