Christ Church Cathedral School ADMISSIONS

Private schools in Canada have admissions policies, and they require application materials. These may include letters of application, application fees, essays, and tests (such as the SSAT). Many schools also require interviews with prospective students. Schools also use different criteria for evaluating student applications, have different acceptance rates, and target different kinds of students. To improve your child’s chances of acceptance, find out everything you can about a school’s admissions policies and how they assess applicants.

What Cathedral School says about their admissions requirements:

Step 1

We invite you for a first meeting with the Head of School and a tour. Contact the school office at 250-383-5125 or [email protected] to set up a time.

You will go away with some written information and a good idea of the kind of School we are in. Following that, we invite you to return and bring your child, and if he or she is transferring from another School, we would like to see reports and any other relevant documents. This is not a formal interview but more of a chance to get to know your child and for him or her to see the School. You might also like to meet the teacher who will teach your child.

Step 2

The next step is to make your initial registration at the School Office. This is when you are officially entered into our books and take your place in the line. Our intake of students is based on siblings first and all others on a ‘first come, first in’ basis. Places are limited, so contact us as early as possible.

You will receive notification of term dates and all relevant information before School starts in September. Meanwhile, if there is anything you need or want to know before the opening of School, you are welcome to call or visit. There are staff members at the School throughout the summer.

Subject to the availability of places, we take children at all grade levels. We can also take children into the School during the year, subject again to the availability of places and careful consideration of the child’s best interests.

Acceptance

Learn about the percentage of students typically accepted into Christ Church Cathedral School. This can help you gauge your chances of getting into this school. For instance, a 95% acceptance rate means a school is relatively easy to get into, while a 10% acceptance rate means it will be difficult to get into.
