Our Perspective on Evergreen Academy
"The Evergreen Way," the school’s educational philosophy, draws inspiration from a range of approaches, including Montessori, Charlotte Mason, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and the Apogee model. The school is designed to balance academic learning with character development, practical life skills, and meaningful connections to nature. Evergreen uses its outdoor environment as an extension of the classroom, incorporating daily nature-based learning alongside traditional academics. While students follow the Ontario curriculum and build strong foundations in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, learning is often reinforced through real-world experiences. Students are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills alongside academic knowledge. Practical experiences such as cooking, gardening, financial literacy, public speaking, and outdoor survival skills help students develop independence and problem-solving abilities. The school also places significant value on creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth through STEAM education, the arts, and Socratic-style discussions.
