I've found the administration to be very thoughtful and kind. Communication is through email or phone - very friendly and open. They use QuickSchools as well for reports and personal info. The staff know all the children's names and what their interests are. I remember the head of curriculum having a number of girls-only meetings for my daughter's grade, when there was a bit of turbulence between the different personalities. She let them chat through any issues in a safe, non-judgmental way, and the group is now tight-knit.
It starts at the top. The leadership of the school through to the teaching staff and admin team are invested in my children. They know their names, their habits, their strengths and certainly their weaknesses. They know our children and respond proactively to situations across the spectrum of issues - academics, behavior, peer relationships, mental and physical health and general well being. The dynamics of any young pre-teen and primary student can perilous (ours included) and the entire Hudson team looks upon each child as an individual and with tremendous empathy. Their teachers and the leadership respond quickly and positively when we call or email. In turn, they reach out frequently with updates, information and any concerns they may have. There are many touch points that give us not only a very clear picture of what and how our children are doing while still being very responsive to feed back.
I have great respect for the people helping me in my education, because everyone wants the best for you at Hudson. I think that all the teachers and the guidance counsellor are great at motivating the students, and inspiring them to do their best. When I was applying to SHAD a couple of months ago, my math teacher and guidance counsellor were happy to assist me with the application, and all the staff at Hudson were overjoyed to hear that I was accepted. I feel that my success is very supported here.
