On Thursday, September 17th, Bond Academy and Bond International College held their 2015 Annual Welcome Back BBQ. This year, the event was generously sponsored by Dr. Julia Li, President of Bond Education Group.
The Welcome Back BBQ, which has been held every year since 2002, is a Bond tradition.
“I think it is a good opportunity to bring the parents, the children and the teachers together, so they can get to know each other informally”, said John Healey, Principal of Bond Academy. “It is a good way to show our appreciation to the parents for being with us, and a nice way to start a good semester, too.”
“I think it is fun”, said Grade 5 student Christian Delgado, who has been with Bond Academy since Grade 1. When asking his opinion of studying at Bond, Christian said: “I like it here. There are a lot of sports involved. I play all the sports here, but I’m on the basketball and soccer teams. ” He also mentioned that besides his favourite subject – Science, “I like the gym class the most because the teacher is really fun!”
“I’ve been to the annual event almost every time”, Christian’s mother said. “The kids seem to like it. Actually, we do, too. It is a good time to meet other parents and chit-chat. It is a good thing that the school provides the opportunity.”
Whether it was the students, their parents or the teachers, everyone had a great time during this get together.
Mr. Healey expressed his appreciation to everyone for all the help and support to make this year’s Welcome Back BBQ a huge success.
