Bond Choir Placed Fourth in Show Choir Canada
On Sunday April 21st, Bond Academy was privileged to step on a national stage to compete in Show Choir Canada. This was held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on the Exhibition Grounds.
Youngest Choir Placed Fourth
Our kids were the youngest choir to enter the competition, and not only did they look great with fantastic black and silver vests with tiger stripes, bow ties for the boys and hair bands for the girls, but we sounded great as well!
It was a lot of work with many, many hours of rehearsal time going into the production. Our kids performed for 15 minutes straight with 6 songs and choreography. They started off with the energetic song of "Jump Start" then a mash up song with "Money, Money, Money" and "Price Tag" What could be better than including "Thank you for the Music"on to "Good Time" then a strong ending with our school theme song of "Eye of the Tiger".
In our very first time on a national stage we not only had a lot of fun, but placed fourth.
Whole School Team Work
To make this happen we set up a team. Miss DeLuca worked hard with the choreography. This was not an easy feat with such a young choir and having a fifteen minute set. Under her direction we had choreographed movements for fifteen minutes straight.
Miss Harvey lent her musical abilities and fine tuned all of our singing, reminding our students to "end their consonants". She had us working our phrases and perfecting our sound.
We owe a debt of thanks to our high school band; we also got special commendation for our fantastic drummer! Thank you to Michael, Riah and Farhaan under the direction of Mr. Allen. We honestly couldn't have done this without you!
We really couldn't have done it without the support of our wonderful parents. These dedicated parents not only accommodated extra practice times, but thanks to these parents our costumes rocked as well as we did! A special thank you goes out to Katherine Waterson who not only made vests out of "impossible material" but the bow ties as well for the boys.
Thanks also to Ms. Calle for creating beautiful hair bands for the girls.
On behalf of the show choir team, Miss Harvey, Miss DeLuca, Mr. Allen and myself we thank you for your support! We can't wait for next year!
